This is a 1980 Mercedes Benz 500SL Euro.. Pretty much Arizona rustfree and original. Been sitting in storage since the owner passed away in
2012. . I got this and a 380SL from the same woman recently. I took off the air cleane, hooked a battery up, sprayed some carb cleaner
In the throat, turned the key and it instantly started for a few seconds .till I turned the key off. Did not want to muck up the injection with old gas.
So this needs filters, hoses, belts, brake master cylinder reservoir, fluids, major service and so on from sitting so long. There are very minor signs of wires being chewed on by rodents here and there in the engine bay.The odometer shows 203,000miles.
No idea on mechanical other than we pulled the plugs to check their tips for oi, rust and such and they were all pretty much clean and nice.
The body is pretty much straight and clean.Clear coat is gone in many places. The rear decklid has tree pitch or something on it that
may or may not clean up. The trunk has the original flasher kit. The interior is nice enough for a driver with some work .Looks all original from day one.
The Becker Mexico stereo with electric antenna is there. I have included the original vin decoded report from one of the
Mercedes forums. Showing original paint and interior. And options ordered with the car.

I found some paperwork in the glovebox showing the Federal conversion
done in 1984 when the car had like 49k miles. This car is worth far far more by breaking it up for parts and selling Euro bumpers, lights, engines, marker light, valance, rear deck spoilers and such, but it is too nice for that. This will make a great base to work with.If you are overseas, I can help arrange delivery to Los Angeles shippers for export..
