Description of 19710000 Mercury Colony Park Wagon |
Up for auction this week is my 1971 Colony Park Station Wagon I've owned since June 2008. I bought it with a hurt engine and overhauled it during Winter 2009. For years I enjoyed hauling friends up to the lake or other road trips as this is such an enjoyable car for group outings. Now I don't use it very much and with other projects pushing on me for completion I've chosen to leave the new paint job and wood paneling to the next owner. While overhauling the engine the car went on the lift for new suspension and brake parts including hoses and total fluid change. The rearend oil was changed and new axle bearings were installed as were new wheel bearings in front. New shocks, ebuilt radiator, ew heater core and water valve. I also rechromed both bumpers. After engine was installed again, t was driven to tire store for 5 new tires (yes, he spare too) and an alignment. Then new exhaust pipes and a new remote control Pioneer Stereo CD Player w/ USB and I-pod/I-phone/ Sirius ready. Tied through an Alpine 75 watt/ channel amp and 4 new speakers. The clock was sent away for a new quartz movement and now keeps perfect time. The car has a Class III hitch and a transmission cooler and the C6 transmission has been serviced and adjusted at our local AAMCO. The interior is nearly perfect and almost all original condition. I took all the seats out and replaced all the carpet with new dark green cut pile carpet including the load floor. Also the car has a full cover that fits perfect. The options on this car for the year include cornering lights, hitewall tires, ilt steering column, ual facing rear seats with locking stowage there, deluxe luggage roof rack with air deflector, ower locks (vacuum), ront bumper guards, ir conditioning with tinted glass, ntermittent wipers, nd a heavy duty suspension according to my Marti Report I had done for this car. It was sold in the Seattle/ Tacoma area just 10 days after being built in St. Louis. The car is really a good piece of stationwagon history and should and will be a cherished member of the family should it be adopted by someone with plans to use it regularly and see it through the paint process. It can be driven from here to home with no problems. The A/C is cold and was converted to R-134 years ago. Keep this at your mountain cabin or keep it for the extra car in the family that gets Little League duty or other carpool duty. It gets attention all the time; even at filling stations where folks want to engage you and tell stories about other wagons. Be the wagonmaster of your neighborhood. Thank you for visiting and GOOD LUCK BIDDING!! if you want to contact me direct you may phone my home and I'll return your call. Phone (541) 884-9020. |
