Description of 1968 Mercury Cougar

1968 Cougar. numbers matching. 302 four valve four barrel carb. automatic. air. power steering. power front disc brakes. stainless dual performance exhaust. ike new interior including XR7 opera lights. working original am/fm radio. I am the third owner of the car. It was purchased new in California in late 1968. Within a year the original owner installed the American Racing wheels that are still on the car and have been for 45 years. He had the car for most of its life. The next owner rarely drove the car but made good investments into its upkeep including new paint and some interior work. I have owned the car for a couple of years. All of the projects are now complete. The car is ready for the next owner to enjoy. Here is a breakdown of work completed and the condition of the car. The engine was refreshed a few years ago and runs like new. The C4 transmission was rebuilt by a noteworthy shop in the last few months. Power steering assembly also rebuilt recently. Front disk brakes are new as are rear drums. Front suspension is new. The air conditioning system was completely replumbed and converted to modern materials. It works perfectly. Battery. plugs. ignition wires. cap etc all recently replaced. A new Holly performance 4 barrel carb was installed and performance has never been better. The original carb comes with the car. The car starts immediately and runs beautifully. It needs nothing. The car is rust free. There is no bondo on the car. The paint is very good and was made better. A professional shop repainted the threshold areas. inside of the doors. underside of hood and trunk. Dash was also repainted. Rear bumper was rechromed. Passenger side mirror installed and opera ligts installed. Door hinge pins replaces along with new weatherstripping. Dynamat sound deadening was installed on floor. in trunk and inside doors. New carpet installed. New speakers and wire installed. The original AM/FM radio works great. A previous owner installed speakers in the door panels. While I replaced them. I never would have cut the panel for speakers. I acquired another set of matching door panels which you can swap out if you choose.
