Description of 1951 Mercury Monterey |
~~This is a once in a lifetime buy~~ This Californiacar underwent a 4 1/2 year restoration. Body: Extensive modification to the body. The front fender was extended by 5inches. The hood was modified to fit the extension. A-pillars were trimmed by 4inches vertically. Buick headlights were fitted, s was 53 Chrysler front bumper with 53 Kaiser bumper guard. Stock hump in doors were removed. 53 Buick side trim was fitted and fender skirts were hand-crafted (steel). Rear fenders were extended about 3inches to accommodate 54 Mercury taillights. Rear bumper came from 54 Lincoln and fitted with Kaiser bumper guard. Body is finished in House of Color Candy Brandywine paint. It is nosed, ecked, haved and chopped. Has remote entry. Convertible top is a removable, ustom made Carson top. Interior: Front seats are from early Cadillac and rear cushion was custom made to fit. Both are rolled leather with wine-colored piping. Power and Chassis: Power comes from blueprinted Chevy 350. 69 Chevy Camaro Z28 front clip was sub-framed to original 51 Mercury Chassis. Rear clip came from 76 Chevy Monte Carlo and was grafted into place and C-notched to achieve the low stance. Has front airbags. Transmission- automatic. Car has power steering, ower disc brakes in front and rear drums. Current Mercury of the Year from Fairmont, ndiana show. The inspiration for this car was Bob Hirohata's 1953 Mercury- one of the most iconic Mercurys of the 50's. |
