Description of 1970 Mercury Montego MX Brougham |
If you're looking for a classic muscle car that needs minimum work to make it into a beautiful and unique show car, this is it. Only about 1000 of these babies were manufactured. It is a definite head-turner wherever it goes! This car runs great and sounds badass! And it definitely has some giddy up and go! Nothing like that sinking back in your seat feeling when you hit that accelerator! Everything works - including the hideaway headlights! 2 door hardtop with 302 engine and 2 barrelcarburetor. Engine/Transmission/MechanicalRuns great! The heater core was removed several years ago and I believe can be rebuilt. It is included in the sale. The original air filter housing was removed and replaced with an after market chrome housing. The original is included in the sale. The carburetormay need some adjustments or may even have to be rebuilt. It runs a little rich I think. I don't know enough about it to say for sure.I do believe it needs a front end alignment.Transmission works and has no issues.Muffler is intact with no rust holes.Brand new battery. Exterior BodyDefinitely needs a paint job. Paint on drivers side especially is chipping.Minor surface rust only. No holes in floors or in trunk.A couple very minor door dings that can be easily fixed. The front grill has a broken spot, which is pretty common with this model because people kept forgetting they had a long nose out there!Hideaway headlights do work, but they come up very slowly. I believe there is a vacuum switch thatneeds to be replaced. It looks like it may have been bumped in the rear at one time. There is a small crack in the plastic housing around the taillights and the bumper is slightly bent. The metal flange that goes below the trunk has been removed and is included in the sale.Antenna is missing.Chrome after market wheel rims included. All glass is intact with no cracks or chips. The vinyl top was removed by a previous owner. A remnant of the black top is available on the sides by the window so you can use that to match when you put on a new vinyl top. InteriorThere is a small hole in front seat and a small hole in the rear seat (see pics). There is one crack in the dashboard (see pic). The gas gauge doesn't work. The chrome trim along the bottom of the passenger door is corroded (see pic).Original AM radio works! No rips or tears in the headliner. TrunkNo holes in trunk.Includes original trunk liner, but it is pretty brittle with age.Original tire jack is included, but there is no spare tire. MileageThe odometer reads 45,000, but it is unknown as to whether it was rolled over to 145,000 or if it is 45,000 original miles. TiresAll four tires are in great shape and have lots of tread. Extra Parts IncludedBrand new heavy duty car cover rated for snow. ($179 value)Original owner's manualOriginal heater coreStarterBox of taillightsOriginal air filter housingSet of locking lug nuts - no key.Extra headlights.New ball joint.A few other odds and ends.
