Description of 1970 Mercury Cougar |
1970 Mercury Cougar XR7 Blue inside and out! Car is well equipped with Power Front Disc Brakes. Power Steering. Factory A/C and 351 Cleveland FMX Automatic. Very desirable and restorable car in fair original condition. Previous owner rebuilt the engine and installed a mild cam with a 4V carb and intake as well as a petronics Distributor for reliability. He also installed true dual exhaust for a very respectable sound. The original intake. nbsp; carb. and distributor are included in the sale along with loads (and I mean loads) of restoration parts (mostly less pitted pot metal parts and a GORGEOUS complete set of rear taillights!!). The floors have been welded and the airbox rebuilt. headliner is out and carpet torn up from the work. Needs complete interior and exterior cosmetics and the normal rust repair. In my opinion the only things you will need to buy for the body besides small patch panels will be a passenger side door shell and a hood. they are repairable but if you could get rust free ones you would be way ahead! The car runs and starts good. I am experiencing a problem shifting. suspect the vacuum line to the modulator. (I am slowly working on it) and the headlight doors only stay down for a little while with the car off. not sure if the canister is rebuildable. older. very faded paint. This Cat would make a great winter project for someone with the skills. resources and time to do it right. I would not personally make an Eliminator clone out of it or rip out the Cleveland and shoe horn a big block in it. I think it is fairly unmolested and should stay that way! Just sayin! Locally Advertised. seller reserves the right to end auction early. or for any reason. |
