Installed Equipment:Edlebrock HeadsElectric fuel pump assist (Used for starting after extended periods of sitting)Mild Cam4” CrankAdjustable LiftersManual Tranny with 3 on the tree. The frame off restoration was completed at the beginning of 2013 and has only 1528 current Miles on it since then. The bottom of the vehicle has been completely undercoated and sealed. The body of the Merc has been insulated. soundproofed. with some heat reflecting material. Bran new interior and upholstery. This car was built to be as original as possible and was built to be able to be a daily driver as well as a show winner. It already has many awards to its credit since being restored. All chrome is the original chrome which has been revived. It has a V8 flathead engine as per the original mercury engine. It is mechanically ready to be driven cross country. The history of the car. although not official or confirmed. is as follows. In mid 2000’s. an Abilene man purchased the car from a police yard where the car had been stored in Buffalo Gap. TX since it was taken off the road. The purchase was made without title. He intended on restoring it. but was unable to do so. It was then I purchased it from him and began the restoration. During the restoration. we suspected it may have been a government vehicle as it had holes in the trunk and other places which were for antennae's and such. It was the FULLY loaded model with all the extra chrome and a spotlight was still fitted to the car. Shortly after the restoration was complete. and while it was one of its first shows. a very old gentleman approached us and explained to us that he knew that exact car. Of course we were thinking. you know the model. not this particular car. The man explained that he knew that exact car and its history. He then explained to us where everyone of the dents in the car were before the restoration. confirmed the holes were for antennaes and such. The thing that really made us believe the gentleman was that he was able to identify exactly what was wrong with the engine before it was overhauled. The engine issue was a burnt valve on the #7 cylinder. Once that was said. he explained further that the car was utilized by the Texas Rangers to run down bootleggers between San Angelo. TX and Buffalo Gap. TX until the valve burnt out. in which it was put into storage until the Abilene man purchased it. He was even able to explain how each dent was made and what was happening when the dent happened. Unfortunately. we did not get his contact information in order to have something made to confirm this car as being a previous Texas Rangers Pursuit Car. For sale and located in Sisco.
