Description of 1972 Mercury Cougar Cougar XR 7

1972 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Convertible Runs and Lot Drives. Needs Total Restoration. I am listing this collector convertible for a friend of mine so if you have any questions. please feel free to ask and I'll get the answer back to you. This 1972 Mercury Cougar Convertible has its original 351ci Cleveland V-8 2 barrel engine that runs very well with no smoke or funny noises and is backed with an automatic transmission. The body is straight but will need front and rear full floor pans. full trunk pan. tail pan. lower quarter panel patches and rear deck lid. The front frame cross member and radiator cradle is in good condition. I know that there is going to be quiet a bit of metal work to be done to this Cougar but it is VERY worthy of the work it will take. for this is a very unique and rare convertible. This Mercury is equipt with the XR-7 package which consists of tachometer. gauge package. upgraded interior. and performance suspension package. The interior is all there and will need complete restoration. The power convertible top frame is complete and will need a new top installed. Like I said this Cougar is a project that will need TOTAL restoration but will crank right up. pull the floor shifter down into gear. drive around local distances and stops with new brakes. With that said I would advise to trailer this car to where ever your going. The Mercury has a clean clear title for the new owner and the reserve is set really low so bid to win.
