Description of 1963 Mercury Monterey Body Style 65A, Trim 94 |
Up for sale is a 1963 Mercury Monterey (Body Style 65A, Trim 94), with 79,523 original miles, used and in excellent condition! The car has a high-compression 390 cubic-inch V8 engine with a 4-barrel carburetor. The paint, chrome, upholstery, and radio are all original, and all in excellent condition. This car has had only two owners, and both have kept the car garaged. The car has factory power steering, power brakes, and power rear window (slant window unique to the Monterey, which lowers into a protected area within the trunk). The present owner also added air conditioning, seat belts, and passenger-side outside mirror. All four tires have full tread, and the following service work was recently performed:
More details about this particularvehicle: This car has only had two owners. The original owner took excellent care of the car, keeping it always garaged. The present owner purchased the vehicle in 2012, when he was 85 years old, after becoming nostalgic for a Monterey he owned in the 1970s! The car was well-cared for in the last eight years, being kept always garaged, and used only as a show car, or at special events. As the present owner is now about to turn 93 years old, and does not drive any longer, he is interested in selling the car to a new owner who will drive and enjoy it. More details about the Mercury Monterey in general:The original concept for the Mercury Monterey was designed by Packard, under the name "The Predictor." When Packard disappeared, many of its engineers were hired by Ford. Some of those engineers successfully convinced Ford management to manufacture the "Predictor"; Ford agreed, and assigned it to the Mercury Division, under the name "Monterey." The Monterey was known for its large, powerful 390 cubic-inch V8 engine (in fact, many police departments of the day used Montereys as police cars!), and for its unique, backward-slanting rear window, which lowers by electric motor into a special protected area within the trunk. This feature in particular earned the Monterey the nickname the "Breezeway," since with the side windows and rear window all down, this hard-top vehicle became practically a convertible! (As a result of the slant rear-window feature, the car also has an exceptionally large trunk!)
