Description of 1964 Mercury Cyclone

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this super slick, 1964 Mercury Comet Cyclone 2 Door Hardtop. Mercury added the performance package, known as the Cyclone, to the Comet line in 1964. The Cyclones for 1964 featured standard, a 289 V8, chrome wheel covers and special Cyclone badging.
The car here is a wonderful example presenting itself in complete stock format. It is beautifully finished in Burgundy exterior paint over two tone, pearl / gold interior. The car here is powered by its 289 V8, 4 Barrel carb, 3 speed "Merc-O-Matic" transmission and rear wheel drive. Highlights include bucket seats, stock am radio, dash mounted "Cyclone Tach", bucket seats, console, power brakes, original chrome wheel covers, front and rear sway bars, etc.
The car has been ground up restored and remains in wonderful condition. The interior features correct upholstery, refurbished original dash, newer correct carpeting and an excellent headliner. The exterior paint is excellent, the body has excellent fit and clean lines, and the trim and chrome appear to be either excellent original or lightly refurbished. Under the hood is clean and has a stock appearance with the correct air cleaner, chrome valve covers and washer bag.
Mechanically, the car is spot on. The engine starts with no issue, does not smoke, and sounds very good through its stock style exhaust. It is important to note that this is a car that was optioned with power steering. The power steering components do come with the car as photo'd.
In a time when "Big Iron" performance dominated the tracks and the showroom floor, The Cyclone was one of a hand full of cars coming on to the scene that were smaller, lighter and performers. The precursor the "muscle car". The car here is very crisp all over and ready to show or go!
