1959 Mercury Montclair 2 Door Coupe *** Rust Free Solid Metal Arizona Car *** Very Original Restored Car *** Hard To Find Rare 2 Door Coupe DrivingVIDEO: https://youtu.be/Xtr_t3g-Fqw
This 1959 Mercury Montclair is a Very Rare hard to find 2 Door Coupe model. (As a side note, My parents bought a Brand New 1959 Mercury Montclair 4 Door Sedan off the showroom in Fredonia Kansas and I don’t ever remember seeing a 2 Door Model before this one showed up in Garden Plain Kansas). The history on this 2 door model as I understand it is this car has had 2 long term owners. It may have had a brief original owner but was in Arizona most of its life, beginning in 1962 until purchased by the Garden Plain owner in 2005. The mileage shown, which I believe reads 02,463 is not actual mileage, but is the mileage driven by the last owner since 2005. The restoration work was done over several years but the owner stated that most of the mechanical work has 1,400 miles or less on it. The restoration work was done professionally by Wichita area shops that have good reputations for doing quality work. When restoring the body, the owner told me that there was only one small spot of rust on the body and that was repaired with new metal. The floor boards and trunk floor are reported to be solid metal reflecting its long term dry Arizona climate history. The two tone paint looks good with no flaws of significance. However, I very rarely have to say this but the paint is not as nice in person as the photos show. It was painted with a single state urethane and was not clear coated as many show cars and all of todays new cars are done at the factory. So, it does not have a deep glossy mirror show car finish you might expect. Also, You probably can’t even see it in the photos but I tried to point out a small bump on the hood directly above the air cleaner. Frankly, I didn’t notice it when looking the car over but the owner pointed this out to me so I wanted to pass this information along. To keep this in proper perspective, I think most people would consider this to be a great looking car with a nice paint job but I think when selling a car on the internet it is important to point out items that some buyers might consider to be an issue. Most of the classic and muscle cars that I sell on Ebay are never viewed by the buyer until they are delivered to their homes and I always want my buyers to be pleased with the car they receive. This car starts easily, sounds great and drives out super nice. Its an unusual, rare car with a flashy factory 2 tone paint scheme and so gets a lot of attention wherever it goes. The car is a joy to drive. Just check out my driving video, click here: https://youtu.be/Xtr_t3g-Fqw Please call me with any questions at my number listed below . Charles Carver
