Description of 1948 Mercury Other

WOW!!!! You owe this car a good look if you ever wanted a Great family cruiser. This 1948 Mercury has been enjoyed and driven many miles when my friend purchased it in December of 2015.
In the end of 2018 he and his engineer friend decided to do some very nice upgrades. They included removing engine and trans to tidy up engine bay, replace water pumps, custom made Reds headers, dual exhaust with glass pack muffler for an old school tone, dual 2BBL Stromberg carbs and aluminum intake, custom finned air cleaner, sending units, all new stainless brake and fuel lines. Then they decided to replace the old wiring and fuse box with all new hand built wiring and 2 modern fuse boxes paying very close attention to wire sizes and routing. Electric fuel pump was added in rear and fuel sending unit replaced. He replaced the tires last year. Radiator also has been boiled and cleaned. Engine head bolts have chrome caps that really dress up engine.
Front suspension was also rebuilt including king pins tie rods bushings ect.
LED tail lights and all gages are replaced with NOS gauges and work well. Even clock but does not keep accurate time.
The car has been driven every chance he get as weather permits. Not driven in rain or snow although everything works and you can if desire to. The body is in great condition as well as the paint. No rust as you can see inside door jambs and lower door skins are very neat and clean. Floors look great too as well as frame. The car is a driver so it has its oil and grease underneath. Not a trailer queen but nice enough to take to local car shows. The chrome is shiny but does have some dings and dents here and there. Car is very straight and not full of bondo as seen in side shot.
The interior is nice and not torn up or worn out. Original looking and very comfortable.
