Description of 1977 MG Midget

Fall is a wonderful time of year to own a Classic British Convertible Sports Car!! I have for sell one of the nicest MG Midgets you will find listed anywhere! This is a solid rust free 1977 MG Midget 1500 which has the large 1493 cc engine and synchronized transmission. A fully restored Texas car that has been treated to a beautiful "Early British Era" styling. By this I mean the large "rubber bumpers"have been removed and original 1968 chrome bumpers have been used giving it that classic look! This MG was originally yellow but it has been completely stripped down and totally repainted a beautiful "Dodge Viper Red"with Urethane Paint. (I have pics that I will include of this process showing the solid condition of this midget.) The following is just part of what has been done during the restoration of this car:

  • Rust Free Texas car with only ~39,363 miles. Very solid & strong engine.

  • Body completely stripped down, repped, rimed and repainted Dodge Viper Red with Urethane Paint.

  • Full under coat of frame,

    pan and wheel wells.

  • Replaced gaskets and seals. New 20w50 racing oil & filter.

  • New Weber 32/36 down draft carburetor and intake manifold - manual choke. Upgraded high performance ignition.

  • New header and free flowing exhaust system. Great sound! (Over $200.00 spent on mufflers to get correct sound tone!)

  • New breaks, otors, earings, uel lines, ank, iring.

  • New Tires, rim rings, ie rods, pindles & related hardware.

  • New upper & lower ball joints.

  • New poly bushings and sway bar.

  • New high flow electric fuel pump with gauge to supply Weber carburetor correctly.

  • Smaller custom MG steering wheel.

  • New carpet inside both car & trunk — clean and tidy interior. Original crack free glass —still has 1983 Texas auto sticker still on the windshield.

  • High end, igh quality custom convertible cloth top. Professionally installed & fitted.

  • Original 1968 chrome bumpers with bumper guards.

  • New wiring within the detailed, lutter free engine compartment.

  • New dash top, 0's era mirror on center rod, ew seat belts. Correct gauges.

  • New lights, enses and seals.

  • Complete sound deadening material installed in the interior.

  • All rubber trim replaced — windshield, runk, ide windows, as tank filler, oors, ood, tc... all!! (Even on the vent windows!)

  • Custom front grill with custom MG grill badge.

  • High intensity custom headlights. 3 new wiper arms & blades.

  • New battery and cables.

This was a full 1 year restoration with attention to all details!! It drives, handles and shifts like a vintage English race car!! Very impressive performance with the Weber carburetor and free flowing exhaust system!! Always gets attention whenever it is on the road or parked. I have owned several British Sports Cars over the years but this one has them all beat!Highly dependable and very tight with the new top up. As all British sports cars should be, he radio is no longer installed. The console has been removed which continues with the classic look and aids in a more roomy interior. Note — I have almost all the original parts that came off the car and they will be included with the car to the winning bidder. These include — front & rear rubber bumpers,

carburetor., steering wheel,

stock exhaust system, adio console, mog parts, ssorted other various parts. Has to be worth ~$800.00 collectively if wanting to sell separately.

The following is all I can see that would still need addressed, orn not installed to custom steering wheel but will hook right up to stock one. Install front turn signals if wanted — have several I will include to use. Small bit of wiring — front signals/horn. Gas gauge stopped working (wire I'm sure since the sending unit is new), dd small bit of carpeting over rear wheel wells on interior. All very minor and easy work over the winter months. All hard work has been completed!! A real blast to drive as well as a car show queen!! I have a large file of receipts of parts and work done as well as the restoration pics that are included. A huge amount of time and money has been spent on this MG to get it looking and running like it is!! Not many out there can compare at the price I have it at! Always garaged stored.

Be sure to read over my listing completely — I try to cover as much as I can and attach as many pics as possible on the cars I sell! Please e-mail with any and all questions prior to bidding. I will answer all and post all questions & replies. Can also send additional pics if wanted. Just let me know.

As nice as this car is please note as with any vintage used car it is being sold "As is As Described to the best of my knowledge" . No guarantees or warranty implied. The restoration was not done by a professional shop but by an experienced enthusiast who has worked on many cars in the past. The reserve is very modest and fair compared to the amount of money and time that has been spent! These little MG's were fragile to begin with and to still find one in this condition is a rare find!

Winning bidder must pay a deposit of $500.00 within 24 hours of auction close through PayPal with remaining balance due within 5 days by cash or bank transfer. Transportation is buyers responsibility but will work with you on timing.
