Description of 1974 MG MGB Roadster with Original Miles |
***Previously California Registered and titled. Registration has not been renewed in some time. The title has a typo, in order to get the title corrected there are back fees that would need to be paid to the CA DMV should you wish to register this car in CA. If your an out of state buyer this doesn'tapply to you. The sale of this MGB comes with Bill of sale and CA Title in need of correction (see pictures)*** For your consideration we have a 1974 ½ MGB Roadster, a very complete and original example of a running and driving classic British sports car. This is the vehicles second owner and the miles (82,951) are original. This is a matching numbers’ California car that is rust free, and accident free. The exterior paint is white and has cracking/snake skin appearance, but considering the age of the paint, that’s not very surprising. This MG comes with a convertible top that is in decent condition but in need of some long hot days to allow for the top to stretch out as needed. The sale of this roadster also comes with a black factory hard top that is in great condition. The rubber bumpers are in good shape along with the exterior chrome trim. The interior is original with autumn leaf door panels and seats, along with black carpeting and MG crested rubber mats on the drivers’ and passengers’ floor. The seats are ok, but it looks as though a famished mouse has taken a nibble at the drivers’ seat, and the door panels are a bit lumpy. The dash is in excellent condition and complete with all gauges and switches in their proper spot. The gauges all read and function as desired. The head lights, reverse lights, and brake lights all work. The indicator switch assembly is broken, yet semi-functional. The right and left indicator do work but it takes some finagling of the switch to engage the indicators. This could easily and inexpensively be repaired with a new switch assembly ($36.99 from Moss motors). The trunk space is tidy and complete with spare tire, tool roll, and tonneau cover. Mechanically this MGB has been well managed. After hitting 50,000 miles the piston rings and cam bearings have been changed out and replaced with new. The fuel system has been gone through recently and the fuel hoses and filters have been replaced with new. The brakes have had recent repairs including, new front flex hoses and new rear wheel cylinders. The brakes have been bled with fresh brake fluid as well. The starter relay has been replaced as the old one was touch and go. The carburetors have been adjusted and the spark plugs have been changed. Also a new battery has been installed. From cold this MGB starts up with a tiny pull of the choke and a turn of the key. The engine sounds very healthy and full of life and as the car warms up it settles into a nice low idle. The suspension is in good shape and the ride is nice and smooth, well as smooth as an elder British classic can be. The transmission feels great and shifting through gears is easy and without any unwanted grinding or vibration from worn bearings in the gearbox. The clutch pedal feels good and works well. The brakes are ok. However, the brake pedal feels a bit weak, so this is something that I suggest be looked at more closely before any extensive driving. Driving this MGB was truly a joy; don’t let weathered paint and minor aesthetic imperfections detour you from a lovely car. Rust free, matching numbers MGB’s are becoming harder and harder to find with so many people modifying and chopping these cars to bits. It is always so nice to get to enjoy a car that has not been changed into something it’s not. Bid to win this proud little MGB roadster that is sure to put a smile on your face. As always I would advise inspecting the car in person if at all possible. Please also note that we reserve the right to end this auction early should we receive an offer we can't refuse.
