Description of 1971 MG Midget

This is a 1971 MG Midget. VIN # GAN5UB101792. It's in beautiful condition inside and out due to it's recent paint refresh and new interior. I bought this Midget a few years ago from my neighbor who was the second owner. The first owners were the Cash family (Johnny Cash). I saw the paperwork stating this when I bought it but like you probably. I didn't really care. just loved the car. The odometer reads 25K miles. There's been some debate about weather those miles could be original. My mechanic who specializes in MG/Healey thinks. judging by it's clean undercarriage and components. that 25K is possible. Anyway. it's milage never concerned me but I suppose to a collector. that could be quite important. I'm told by the local MG club that this is a factory special order beige color which we were very careful to match when it was repainted a couple of months ago. Chrome bumpers and luggage rack are all immaculate and did not require restoration. Brakes were done last summer so no issues there. the tires are like-new Dunlop SP40 A/S. almost no miles on them. The original 1075 engine runs very well. when it's warm. The last time I drove it a couple weeks ago. it was in the high 40's. After 5 minutes or so. it runs beautifully but has a hard time idling without a proper warm-up. It has a dash mounted manual choke that is actually one of the only headaches. the pull knob's rear nut has come loose and it hangs slightly out of the dash. Not a huge deal but. a deal. I figured instead of pulling the dash off and retightening it. I'll let the next owner decide if they want to keep the same choke system. Carbs were synced last summer and at that time we also replaced the water pump. Almost all of it's basic electrical components were replaced when I purchased it a few years ago. Suspension and steering is tight and solid. very responsive. This car handles beautifully. New MOSS carpet kit was just installed along with original but used seat covers and panel kit. Carpet is black and panels are tan. according to it's original scheme. The panel kit came out of another '71 and although all pieces are very nice. some do show some wear such as minor cracking and scrapes. As you can see. the convertible top has been removed but is sitting next to it in the garage. it IS included with the sale. The frame is in great shape but the vinyl is cracked and torn. So. this is an exceptional early model Midget with a neat history. Nebraska title is clean and ready to go. I'll deliver the car for free within a couple hundred miles of Lincoln. Nebraska but outside of that. the buyer will need to arrange and pay for shipping. Feel free to write with any questions or if you'd like some specific photos of any aspect of the car.
