Description of 1975 MG MGB |
MGB roadster, 1975 Beautiful, rust free California car - only 76k original miles I redid this car for my own use, have enjoyed it and now...time for sale. Was originally from California, brought east to Connecticut, stored inside for ten years which is the way I found it....still started instantly and ran flawlessly. Original seats were very nice and when I had the exterior wet sanded and buffed, the paint came up almost like new. No rust underneath, no bubbles or cracks on the exterior, really well preserved. However, there were three very minor deficiencies....ugly (with rubber bumpers), a bit gutless (with its original twin SU carbs). and ungainly in corners due to its high ride height. All of which I rectified. First was a complete chrome bumper conversion....new brackets, lights, sheet metal, chrome bumpers, grille, etc. I had the side lights removed, plated over (with steel), and the paint blended in. Now looks like the earliest and best looking of all MGBs. Next was lowering the car to pre 1975 ride height, new springs, new front bushings, looks great (now) and handles wonderfully.
Top is in very good condition, has a tonneau, oil cooler, new 3 pt belts, wiring and electricals all seem to be in excellent condition, and a new Sony stereo/CD with USB input. My last MGB was an early '65 and in comparison, this car looks exactly the same BUT has a stronger engine and transmission (all synchromesh), stronger back axle, negative ground with an alternative, such safety items as dual circuit brakes, collapsible steering column, many functions on steering column stalks, on and on. Can't put my finger on it but these later cars seem to ride, drive, and run better than earlier cars. Hence my decision, when I came across a rust free example, to put a lot of money and effort into preparing a sensational MGB. Which it certainly is. It is on ebay, and there is an auction (with reserve) but, in truth, the first genuine offer could very possibly wind up with a wonderful MGB that should give many years of reliable service. I can be reached at my office at 203-377-6746 9-5 weekdays Eastern time and would be glad to do my best to answer any questions. I can also help the winning bidder with shipping. Thanks for looking and good luck! |
