Description of 1969 MG MGC

We don't really want to sell this car. We bought it for our own family to enjoy, and we consider an MGC roadster to be one of the smartest investments in the British sports car world today. All chrome bumper MGBs have risen quite quickly in the past few years, especially roadsters, and the MGC, as a limited production, high performance version of the MGB, is virtually guaranteed to appreciate in value considerably over the next decade. In our opinion, that is.

So, why are we selling this car? Simply put, we don't have the time to fix it and we need the space it is occupying for storage of parts and packing materials for the business, so I guess it has to go.

This is a Missouri car which was restored a long time ago and then hit in the rear section. A new rear body section was professionally welded in place and all traces of accident damage have been removed. The door gaps are now perfect and the body is very straight. At the same time, the car was treated to a new right side inner and outer sill and castle section. This is a solid, decent car. Floors have surface rust but no holes or rust-through. The bonnet is perfect and the front chrome is all excellent. The engine is out and partly dismantled. The pistons and rods were removed for inspection and found to be standard size and showing virtually no wear. The cylinder bores look excellent, with no signs of scoring or ridges at the tops. A set of new Deves rings comes with the car. The cylinder head has been professionally rebuilt. The overdrive manual gearbox is also out of the car, although we can't say much about it, since we never drove the car before we took it apart. Not too, smart, yeah, we know. The original black leather seats are not bad, apart from one or two torn panels that could be replaced.

The car is complete and has many, many new parts, including a new Moss top, lenses, clutch and brake hydraulics, brake hoses, chrome bits including a new rear bumper, fuel gauge sender, ignition parts, filters, and lots more that I would prefer to forget about. The original top frame and bag, jack and bag, and even the knockoff hammer and removal tool are all present and included. Pay the asking price and it comes with a factory shop manual and an original BMC radio, too. We have an MGC GT parts car as well, so anything missing from the roadster will be included in the sale.

In short, it's a great project, solid and ready for paint prep to begin, with lots of new parts included. There is a clean Missouri title.

Buy it fast before we change our minds and keep it!
