Description of 1954 MG T-Series |
1954 MGTF VIN# HDC465048 CLEAR INDIANA TITLE. MILES: 70374 ON UNRESTORED ODO. 053079 ACTUAL MILES ON TITLE RUNS AND DRIVES WELL, LOOKS GREAT, RECENT RESTORATION COMPLETE, READY FOR SHOWS AND DRIVES. HAS SOME HISTORY WITH ORIGINAL TAGS AND DEALER EMBLEM AND A COPY OF THE 1ST TITLE AND OTHER RESTO RECIPTS. COMES WITH PLENTY OF SPARE PARTS, MANUALS, SIDE CURTSAINS (ORIGINAL) AND MORE. To Tell you a little about the car: I have owned this 1954 MGTF since April of 2017. I found the car in a monthly storage garage in Jeffersontown Kentucky. I met with the widow of the previous owner who unlocked and rolled the door up. I found a 1954 MGTF rolling chassis that had been restored to that point. Engine, transmission, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, cooling system…everything intact and restored. There was a makeshift ignition system hooked up using a 2 gang household electrical box(can be seen in the video. The bodywork had been stripped and was piled on shelves all over the garage. The previous owner had purchased the car in 1967 and drove the car for a few years. He started a tear down and restoration in the winter of 1978.He passed away in the fall of 2016, never having seen the car completed. I purchased the car and trailered to my home and went to work getting the chassis up[ and running. Amazingly, a battery and a little gas in the carb and it fired right up! Now, the brakes and hydraulics were done sometime in the past with all new components. But, it had sat too long and I replaced all brake and clutch components. I started the bodywork within 2 weeks of the purchase. All new wood replaced old wooden structures. Body sheet metal was in excellent shape so it was reused. Interior was originally red leather but was changed to tan and the interior seats were made by 2 tall custom interiors in Dayton, Ohio. Interior trim kits from Moss as well as top and side curtains from Robbins. Receipts from the previous owner show a high quality of work done prior to my ownership. Entire frame was sand blasted and powder coated black. All numbers are matching. Lots of new chrome pieces. The windshield and the radiator surround are original. Windshield will need re-chromed. All gauges are original to the car. Why am I selling the car? Well, since the car was purchased in boxes, I had no idea if I could fit my 6’ 3", 265 lb frame in the car…I can’t drive the darn thing. My size 13 EEEE shoes press both the clutch and brake or the brake and gas….not a good thing. I feel like the Russian bear, riding the miniature bike in the circus. My head is way above the windshield. The real pleasure was saving this car from who knows what and bringing it back so someone can enjoy it. I AM GETTING ASSITANCE OF THE SALE FROM MY FRIENDS ATAN AUTOMOTIVEFACILITY IN LOUISVILLE, KY.WHICH I'VE KNOW FOR 25+ YEARS. THEY WILL BE ANSWERING ALL QUESTIONS, TALKING TO YOU ABOUT THE CAR, SHIPPING, FUNDS, ETC. I AM GLAD TO BE AVAILABE IF NEEDED. Feel free to ask questions on EBay, phone or e-mail.
