Description of 1961 MG MGA 1600 Mark I Coupe, Very Rare, Trades Accepted

All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance. I can assist with financing and transport as needed.
Here is a very rare 1961 MGA coupe. MG only built 101 Mark I coupes that year, with just 14 of them being sent to North America! This is one of those 14 cars as documented by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust (certificate included). But aside from being rare, this is also one of the most beautiful cars MG ever built. And a lot of fun to drive as well.
The MGA is an absolutely gorgeous design. Introduced in 1955, its classic, sleek lines have inspired many cars since. The low seating position is accentuated by the coupe’s top. And the interior, while by no means large, does provide a surprising amount of room.
This MG is the product of an older restoration that included a repaint in its original Iris Blue. It then received extensive mechanical and cosmetic updates from 2017-2018 with more than $6,000 in parts alone (receipts included). The frame and floors are all solid and rust free, unlike so many old English sports cars. Be sure to see the underside pictures. Note this example still wears knock-off wire wheels as equipped from the factory.
The 4-cylinder 1600cc engine was rated at 79.5hp from the factory. While not exactly a blistering figure, keep in mind this is a very small car. It runs perfectly with great oil pressure and does not overheat. It looks great too, especially with the twin SU carburetors. Shifting through the 4-speed transmission keeps a driver active and can yield a very rewarding experience. The 1600 model also received front disc brakes for better and more reliable stopping power.
The black leather interior has been redone and looks so nice with the color coordinated blue piping. The headliner and carpet are new as well as are many of the dash pieces. The banjo style steering wheel is an MG favorite too. Everything is functional including the gauges, lights, turn signal “return”, and the horn. Even the optional heater and windscreen washer work properly.
These classic 2-seaters can really be a great motoring experience. This car has had plenty of work done and is ready for its next driver. Just strap your bags onto the luggage rack, pull the starter knob, and wheel on down the road.
