Description of 1957 MG MGA |
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this exceptional 1957 MG A for your consideration. It is powered by a 1500cc 4-cylinder motor which is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. This vehicle is in exceptional condition both mechanically and cosmetically. The exterior of the vehicle is finished in Glacier Blue which creates a bright, yet elegant, contrast with the grey leather interior. All gauges work as they should and the paint is some of the best to have ever come through our doors. Even though these MGs do not have power steering or power brakes like modern cars, its lightweight and well-balanced characteristics make it a total pleasure to drive. This vehicle was originally purchased in 1957 at Performance Cars in East Grand Rapids, MI. The selling owner told us that his uncle was the original owner of the vehicle who then drove it to California in 1960 where it remained until 1976 when he drove it back to Michigan for a visit, then back to California. The car has since been handed down to the selling owner from his uncle thus making this a two-owner, single-family car. When introduced, the "A" charted a new direction for MG. The cars were lower with sleek lines, more roomy interior, low seating position, and more powerful. Most importantly was the departure of the body-on-frame design for a uni-body construction. The car was stiffer, much more rigid, and demonstrated vastly improved handling capabilities. The A transcended MG to the sports car world and developed a rich racing history. To this day, the MGA is considered the best overall MG produced. Please call or email with any questions or for additional information. |
