Description of 1962 MG MGA

Best offer. No trades. This 1962 MGA Mk II Deluxe Roadster (1 of 290 Mk II Deluxe Roadsters known to be produced, with far fewer still around) has just over 4,000 miles on the NOS engine since it was restored about 20 years ago by a previous chairman of the North America MGA Register and an MGA judge. These are considered by many to be the most desirable MGAs, given they had the extras of a Twin Cam without the twitchy engine (e.g, center locked wheels, 4-wheel disc brakes) and have traditionally been valued with a significant premium. If you are an MGA collector, this is the model to own.The body-off restoration returned this MGA Mk II Deluxe to original specifications and appearance, using restored original parts when available, NOS parts, and reproduction parts only when necessary. A section of the front end metal was replaced from a MKII and steering column years before the last restoration. The engine runs flawlessly, the exterior continues to present strongly, and the interior remains fresh. OVERVIEW

  • This is a 20-year-old restoration with approximately 4,000 miles of use. Always stored in heated garage.
  • Both the exterior and interior restorations present strongly and as well maintained.
  • Competition-style Dunlop center-lock wheels distinguish the Mk II Deluxe as original.
  • Clean California title
  • History of the car and ownership provenance is well documented in the MGA Deluxe registry

History Factoid The owner who sold it to the guy who sold it to me says he bought it to get his wife bitten by the British bug through an ad in the Washington Post. He called the owner, offered the full price, and drove 2 hours to DC "in record time." It seems to have a race history due to the old aux tank mounting brackets that had been in boot, additional gauges, and warning lights. 2 owners before him had rebuilt the engine. He had it sitting for 2 years for a restore. He purchased NOS parts and an NOS stock engine from the UK. He said 7 or 8 NOS 1622 engines were discovered in an old warehouse in Britain not long after he purchased the car and he was one the first to call and purchase one, still in it's original shipping crate. His name was Wes Maupin from Virginia.I have loved this car. Always stored in heated garage and well maintained. I hope it finds a new home with similar devotion.Currently in West Virginia but will be moving to Columbus soon.A full portfolio of photos can be found at MGA Deluxe eBay contentVideosVideo1Video2Video3Video4Video5Video6Video7Video8Video9
