Description of 1969 MG Other

I have eight (yes…8) MGC’s and that’s probably 6 or 7 too many. So. it’s time to thin the herd and this is the first one up for sale. For those who follow these types of cars. nbsp;approximately 9000 MGC’s were made for model years 1968 and 1969. Roughly half of the production were roadsters and the other half were GT’s. Very few MGC's were built with the automatic (using the Borg-Warner 35 transmission). This 1969 MGC GT is one of the rare automatics. Only 339 automatic MGC GT’s were built in 1969. This car started life in Pale Primrose and at some point was painted Mineral Blue. The previous owner did a thorough job on the repaint since. as you can tell. the engine compartment and even the inside of the car was painted mineral blue. This particular car was manufactured towards the end of the run (number 8226) so it has most of the improvements made along the way. The PO made some other hanges as well including: Later model seats (which are very comfortable)Later model dash. The previous owner went through a lot of trouble to install this dash. It has many advantages over the “Abingdon Pillow” type dash such as center vents as well as a glove compartment. The original tachometer and 140 mph speedometer are present. The original style oil and water temperature gauge were replaced with the newer style that is appropriate for the dashDriving lightsKnock off minilite style wheels with excellent condition tires…around $2000 work of wheels/tires The interior is in good “drivers” quality condition. The headliner is very nice. carpet is decent. and the upholstery is in pretty good shape. The door cards are marginal but can be used as is. The newer style dash does not have any cracks and looks excellent. Please note: The car is stored in a warehouse that does not have water. Therefore. the car is very dusty on these pictures. A good wash and polish/wax would do wonders. The paint on the car is pretty good with some scratches and such. (as noted: I don’t have access to water where the car is stored so it’s pretty dirty on these pictures). The paint on this car is VERY presentable and there’s no need to worry about a repaint unless you plan to restore the car. The floor boards. truck etc. are solid. The only rust I could find is a bubble on the back hatch and some small bubbles on the top of the right front fender (pics attached). The sills are in excellent condition and the bottom of the car looks excellent. This car is virtually rust free. The sharp eyed will notice the front fenders do not have the reflectors that would be present on a 1969 MG. I don’t know if they were removed or if the fenders were replaced. I’ve attached pictures of the engine compartment fender wells showing them to be straight and undamaged…so. I don’t think the car was hit. The slam panel is excellent. All lights. gauges. turn signals etc. work. The only non-functioning items are the windshield wipers and the front driving lights. The front lights may work…I just haven’t found the switch to turn them on! The engine on this car is very nice. Good oil pressure. no smoke on startup and no overheating. The car had sat for a couple of years before I bought so the carbs could use some cleaning. The car likes some choke until it is fully warmed up and then it’s fine. I think the carbs (SU HS6) are gummed up from sitting so long. The transmission shifts crisply and the brakes work. The dual servos are aftermarket replacements and look fairly new. Both the factory oil cooler and transmission cooler are in place and work well. There isn’t much left to say. This is a car you can buy and drive. tinker with over the winter and have a great looking and running car for the spring driving season. Being an automatic it’s not only rare but also wife/girlfriend/etc. friendly. The MGC has plenty of extra torque for running an a/c unit. It’s a popular upgrade and with the later model dash you can get some face level cooling. No warranty expressed or implied and the buyer is responsible for shipping. I have a clear title.
