Description of 1961 Willys

My dad and I rescued this truck from a salvage yard. It was complete but rusty. We stripped it all the way down. every nut and bolt. cut out the bad rust. sand blasted it. nbsp;treated the surface rust. painted the truck with an etching primer. then had every body panel sprayed with truck bed coating on all sides. The chassis. axles and suspension were painted with a heavy chassis paint after being sand blasted and primed as well. The axles were rebuilt using new bearings and seals. The transfer case was rebuilt using new seals and bearings also. The transmission has also been rebuilt with new synchronizers. as well as bearings and seals. The engine was bored over . 020" and assembled with new pistons. rings. bearings. cam. lifters. nbsp;valves. New gaskets and seals were used throughout. A new distributor and carburetor were used as well. The drivetrain was painted with AMC blue then clear coated. The seat and door panels were recovered. All lights and any other plastic parts were replaced or repaired. The truck is equipped with an overdrive unit. It will cruise nicely at 55mph. The axles are geared at 4. 88:1. The tires are 9. 00x16 NDT bar tread tires. They are the factory style but one size bigger. If you have any questions or want more pictures please don't hesitate to email.
