Description of 1935 Nash Lafayette |
This is a 1935 Nash Lafayette three window coupe. I purchased this car in April of 2014 from a individual who bought the car in 1970 with the intent to restore it. When he bought it in 1970 it was not running and had not been licensed since 1955. He had the engine rebuilt, isassembled the body and chassis completely and then it just sat in his garage the whole 42 years that he owned it. I purchased this car with a Bill of Sale in lieu of lost title and am in the process of getting a Colorado title so right now I Do Not have a title and will only provide a Bill of Sale and all paper work that I have for this car. What I have done is assembled the chassis and body. The engine has been run about 12 hours and the head has been re- torqued so it just needs to get some miles on it to seat the rings. I have not done any body work on it. There is no rust out or rot, nly small dents and surface rust. The things that I have changed or added are : Turn signals; electric fuel pump - I have the original pump.; bucket seats - I have the original seat but it needs total rebuild; Radiator is aluminum - I have the original radiator but it needs a new core; Head lights are not correct - I have the original bullet style but, hey are missing the lenses and some internal parts. The tail light lenses are not correct; All the glass is new safety glass I do have one of the original plate glass side window glass. I have found that the 1935 Nash Lafayette model year production is pretty much split year production car. The Early 1935 production is much the same as the 1934 model production and the Later 1935 production is much the same as the 1936 model production. This is a Early 1935 Nash Lafayette and it has mechanical brakes and the Later 1935's have hydraulic brakes like the 1936's. Another difference is the Early 1935 production body design is more like the 1934 production (main difference is the 1934 has vertical hood lovers and the 1935 has horizontal hood lovers). The Later 1935 production body design is the same as the 1936 production which is a total different front end and roof line and trunk line of than the 1934 and Early 1935production. Deposit of US $500.00 within 24 hours of auction close and full payment is required within 7 days of auction close. |
