Description of 1959 Nash |
We are again helping friends down size their collection of classic British cars. This car is truly a reliable driver as our friend who is a retired school teacher (she said I can say she is a little old lady) uses it regularly. This car is well known in Sarasota Florida and she always gets smiles and waves when in town. The car is available for inspection and we recommend that prospective buyers or agents look at the car before bidding. About the car: 1959 model year built between August and September of that year based on commission number. This car has a true usable trunk unlike the earlier ones. The mileage is not correct and the title would say 'exempt' due to age. The current owners have owned the car for 24 years and have completely restored it in the past. Several useful upgrades have been made to make this not only a cute classic but a comfortable and functional driver. The convertible top was custom made and lined and padded for insulation and sound deadening. It also comes with a new top cover. When the car was stripped to bare metal the floor was also insulated for noise and heat reduction and has been repainted with quality materials by a professional restoration shop. The tires are about 2 years old and have plenty of tread. The owners have always kept this car in an air conditioned garage. The engine has been modified to use unleaded gasoline and has cylinder head from a 1500 MG which is a common upgrade. To make it more useful in Florida summers the car has been properly retrofitted with a retro style air conditioning unit. This includes a high efficiency aluminum radiator with electric fan and a modern compressor. The evaporator unit is under the dash mounted and works well. Another useful upgrade is the braking system where the master cylinder filler has been moved to under the hood and not through the floor like original. I personally know what a pain that is to check levels through a hole in the floor under the mat. This car comes with the original factory service manual as well as the jack. Other interesting documentation will be included as well. A custom trailer hitch was fabricated for this car to tow a tiny motorcycle trailer. The trailer is also available if someone is interested either with the car or not. The owners wanted to use the car and trailer to distribute books as a free library and found a larger vehicle was more functional. Imagine that ! The chrome on the car is excellent as well as the continental kit cover painted to match the car. There is a small scrape on the right front fender just above the wheel well. nbsp; and a bit of damage around the trunk lip. There is a seam split in the driver's seat but as shown in the photos the interior is excellent. I want to point out that the car was detailed after I took these photos. The fuel gauge and horn are currently inoperative but can of course be remedied. I have over 60 photos of the car and will post as many here as possible and will reply to any questions or forward to the owners. If you care to talk to the owner or schedule an inspection please call Barry at 941-376-2664. Shipping is up to the buyer but Barry will assist as much as possible with the logistics and would be willing to discuss delivery within Florida. International buyers would of course be responsible for all shipping and customs arrangements. |
