Vintage Motorcars is proud to present this 1941 Nash Ambassador 600 Deluxe Sedan. The Nash 600 is generally credited with being the first mass-produced American automobile that was constructed using unitized body/frame construction techniques in which the car body and the frame are welded as one unit, rather than the more traditional body-on-frame (the body is bolted to the frame) method. Unitized construction allowed Nash to advertise that the car was lighter in weight, quieter, and more rigid than its competitors. Elimination of the frame in favor of a combined body-and-chassis construction reduced the car’s weight by 500 pounds. Nash’s innovation also required new techniques for collision repairs. This included the development of a new portable body and frame puller tool that was quickly accepted worldwide. The “600” designation for this Nash reinforces the automaker’s claim for this model’s ability to travel 600 miles on one tank of gasoline. This range is due to the combination of the engine’s 25 mpg to 30mpg fuel economy combined with the car’s 20 gallon fuel capacity. Additional efficiency was due to its lower weight than similar cars. This particular Nash is in phenomenal shape for its age, and is believed to only have 40,036 original miles. This Nash was sold new in California, and ordered as heater and radio delete. Could you imagine ordering a car like that today??!! This wonderful pre-war example is running its original 173ci inline valve-in-head 6 cyl engine (engine # K54039) along with the original 3-speed manual transmission (non-overdrive). Both the engine and transmission runs smoothly and flawlessly. The engine starts right up without the slightest hesitation, and purrs down the road without a hint of smoke from the single tailpipe. The manual transmission shifts perfectly in and out of each gear just like it did in 1941. The interior has been redone in the areas where it was necessary, and original pieces were retained if possible. The interior panels and headliner are completely original to the car, and look amazing. The seat upholstery and carpet have been redone in a very similar pattern and fabric as the original. The exterior has been superbly repainted the original color of Strato Blue (#13), and the interior metal, engine compartment and door jambs still retail the ORIGINAL paint!
