Description of 1955 Nash Metropolitan |
Up for sale by the 3rd owner is a beautiful 1955 Hudson (Nash) Metropolitan in its original Canyon Red with tan interior. A brief bit of history: Nash and Hudson merged in 1954 to create Amercan Motors Corp (AMC), but before the name change, some of the cars were sold at Hudson dealerships. These had different grille medallions, horn buttons, and hubcaps. Otherwise, the cars were identical to the Nash counterparts. Most people still refer to them as Nash. Everything works and the car runs and drives great. It has been lovingly cared for and garaged its whole life. The owner claims the paint is original . It has been polished and shows very well, with no major dents or scratches. Some small wear and tear typical of a 68-year-old car is to be expected. There was no rust found anywhere on the car. The undercarriage is relatively clean and free of major road grime. The interior is original and surprisingly intact for the age. The seats and panels definitely show wear indicative of their age and the seats have been covered in protective plastic to minimize additional damage. The odometer shows 20,447 and the owner claims the mileage is true. The engine starts easily and runs well, and was recently tuned up. The steering, brakes, clutch and shifter all function like they should. All lights and switches work, but note there is no radio or antenna present. The original wiring insulation under the hood was coming apart in a few places, so the owner individually wrapped each wire and placed inside a loom to prevent any issues. The generator was replaced with an alternator, but the original wiring was bypassed and the generator and brackets are included with the car so it can easily be put back. The original jack comes with the car, as well as an assortment of manuals, brochures and some documentation regarding mileage, maintenance and repairs from the previous owners. The car is located and can be seen in Cripple Creek, CO. We are helping the owner by listing the car since he does not have a computer. We can not verify any of the statements made regarding the condition of the car, and we recommend talking with the owner and seeing the car before purchasing. We have made every effort to accurately describe the car, but please closely examine the pictures and ask any relevant questions. The car is being sold as is, where is, with no warranties expressed or implied. We are happy to answer any questions we can help with and also to put you in touch with the owner for anything we can't. A deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours of purchase or close of auction, with the remaining balance due within 7 days. The owner does not offer shipping but will do what he can to assist with pickup and loading. Transport will need to be arranged and paid for by the buyer. Thank you for looking! |
