Description of 1967 Oldsmobile 442 |
This is a chance of a lifetime if you’re looking for a 67 442 race car. This car has changed hands a few times over the years but it keeps getting more and more invested. I think it’s had like 60. 00 invested over the last 15 years or so. I have some history on it but the key facts are this: Body: Super solid real 442 body. Paint is still bright and graphics are universally cool (graphics can be removed if buyer chooses) The chassis has not been modified to the point that it prevents the car being used on the street or even being restored to original condition so options are wide open. nbsp; Although the car is sold as seen with the fiberglass hood and trunk lid. original style 442 hood and other parts are available if the buyer wants to go back to original but those parts are not included in this sale (i. e. parts sold separately) The heart of the car is a radical 455 with approximately 10. 00 invested including well worked aluminum heads. The engine builders name and info will be provided to buyer. Engine was previously installed in 65 Oldsmobile Cutlass that ran very well at the track inspite of being a Full Wieght street legal car. I purchased the block and had it installed in this Race car to facilitate getting into the 10 second bracket but have not had time to finish prepping the car to race and now due to family commitments I am planning on selling the car. The Transmision has been in the car the longest and I believe is a older supercomp with Reverse manual valve body. Still functioning well but has many Runs on it and is the most used part of the drive train. The rear end is a awesome FAB-9 (fabricated 9 inch rear) with 373 gears which costs about $6500 (look up on line). I wanted a bullet proof rear with a gear ration that takes advantage of the big blocks Torque while promoting longer engine life and maintaining potential for Street strip applications in the future. The addition of the rear however made my custom fabricated drive shaft a bit too long and I have not found the time yet to have it shortened or another one made. (it fits but I chose not to run it with out the recommended 1 or more of play in the yoke. This would have to be addressed before racing the car. Additional race modifications and equipment: Custom race modifications installed include roll cage and race seats (note Roll bar was cut at the frame facilitate lifting the body off the frame at one point and remains connected to the floor and rest of the cage. To race in brackets requiring a Roll Cage buyer will have to have this addressed or the roll bar can be removed for street strip applications. If buyer plans to Race in Classes that require a cage these would have to be reconnected to the Frame to meet technical requirements for various classes. The custom driver’s seat even matches the paint job and was equipped with a 5 point harness. In the trunk rests the fuel cell. nbsp;custom battery box. and remote battery shutoff switch mounted in bumper. Also note the solid floors in the interior photos that also highlight the awesome dash guage set up. The car was lightened by striping the original seats and carpet and adding the fiberglass hood. It also has a largely customized dash and wiring harness so some work would have to be performed to restore the car to original street legal configuration if that’s your plan. I have many parts to help with that if the buyer decides to go that route. The pictures tell the rest of the story but if you have questions Please call me at 203-631-0184. thank you. John 203-631-0184As always car is sold as is where is with no warrany expressed or implied. bidders are strongly encouraged to view car in person or ask questions to avoid any mis-communications. as you can see from my feedback I am a reasonable and honest person who desires a easy and clean sale with both parties happy with the transaction. |
