Description of 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass |
UP FOR SALE IS MY 1977 CUTTY THAT I PURCHASED ON EBAY ON 4/11/14 I'VE PUT MAYBE 600 MILES ON IT, 'VE ADDED THE FOLLOWING: =NEW GRANT WOOD STEERING WHEEL, EW TIRES AND WHEELS (LESS THEN 150 MILES ON THEM) NEW AUDIO SPEAKERS IN FACTORY LOCATIONS SO THE PRISTINE INTERIOR HAS NOT BEEN CUT OR MODIFIED. I ALSO ADDED A VERY NICE CAR ALARM INCLUDING A BACKUP BATTERY OPTION. I HAVE MANY EXTRA ITEMS FOR THE CAR AS WELL THAT I WILL INCLUDE WITH THE CAR. OK, OW WHY I'M SELLING HER - NO GARAGE! THIS CAR WAS ALWAYS GARAGE KEPT ACCORDING TO PREVIOUS OWNERS. ONE YEAR WITH OUT A GARAGE AND IT HAS ALREADY DEVELOPED SURFACE RUST ON THE ROOF AND WHERE THE VINYL ROOF MEETS THE REAR QUARTER PANEL. THIS SURFACE RUST WAS NOT PRESENT WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BUT HAS DEVELOPED SINCE. I DO TRY TO KEEP A CAR COVER AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND OF COURSE IT WAS NOT DRIVEN FROM OCTOBER 2014 THROUGH MAY 2015 TO AVOID WINTER. ALSO, HE POWER ANTENNA IS BROKEN BUT I STILL SEEM TO PICK UP ALL THE LOCAL STATIOONS I DID PRIOR TO IT BREAKING. WHOMEVER DECIDES TO BUY THIS REALLY NEEDS A GARAGE TO PROTECT IT - EVEN JUST RAIN IS ENOUGH OF A PROBLEM FOR 40 YEAR OLD PAINT. I WILL THAT A FEW PICTURES OF THE TROUBLE AREAS AND POST THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. PLEASE NOTE *** THE INFO BELOW IS THE AUCTION INFO FROM WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR. IT WAS AUCTION # 131160350295. I BOUGHT IT, ENT A DEPOSIT THEN FLEW DOWN AND DROVE BACK UP - THE CAR DROVE LIKE A DREAM WITH NO WORRIES WHATS-SO-EVER. THE REASON I HAVE INCLUDED THIS INFO IS ITS STILL ACCURATE AS I'VE HARDLY DRIVEN HER. The car is a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon. It was manufactured in Arlington, exas and shipped to Hansel Olds Inc in Fullerton, A. It was there that it was purchased by a man and wife who kept the car very well maintained for the next 10 years. It was then acquired by a gentleman who also lived in California. The car spent the next 12 years in California until he moved to Virginia and had it trucked in an enclosed car hauler to its new home.
The original motor was replaced with a genuine GM remanufactured 350R out of the crate at (139,000 miles) in 1999. The 350 turbo-hydramatic transmission was replaced with a remanufactured 350 unit (out of the crate) at 146,000 miles in 2003. The distributor (complete), bbl. Quadrajet carburetor (out of the box, ot rebuilt), lywheel, osi-traction rear end, ear axles, prings, teering gear, ront suspension, adiator, as tank with sending unit have all been replaced with new NOS, enuine GM parts. The new 350R has 11,000 miles since being installed. I have complete documentation of all work done on the car. The car's options include but are not limited to: Power steering, /font> Power windows, Power door locks, /font> Power six-way driver's seat, /font> Reclining buckets, /font> Cruise control, /font> Original am-fm 8-track, /font> Power antenna, Dual exhaust, Body side moldings, Pin striping, Sport mirrors, Bumper guards, ront and rear Rear window defroster Power sun-roof. The sun-roof roof was a dealer installed option, nstalled by the American Sunroof Corporation August 8, 977 when the car had 22 miles on it. The sun-roof does NOT leak. The car has almost every available option for that model. All options are in working order. The passenger side window sticks sometimes, ut works fine after a little coaxing. The A/C was removed in 1999 (during engine replacement) and has not been replaced. I have all the mounting brackets (powder coated), oses/stainless lines for the system. The air cleaner and all mounting brackets have been powder coated. The radiator support, ender braces and hood hinges have all been chromed. The hood insulation is new. It is as clean under the hood as it was when new. The front and rear frame were taken to bare metal, cid washed and painted with POR 15. Other than the vinyl top being replaced by the original owner, he body and interior are completely original. The only exception is the top, hich was repainted in 1977 when the dealer had the sun-roof installed. There are 2 very small dots of rust where the vinyl meets the body. The previous owner touched these up 20 some odd years ago and they have not changed in size. The plastic hood to windshield trim, hich was common in these cars and yellows and cracks with age, as been replaced with a stainless one. The car has never been in an accident. The car has been garage-kept its entire life and has never seen a winter. It has not seen rain in the last 25 years. Washing is done by hand and chamois dried. The paint on this car is amazing. It's only interior issue is the bottom of the driver's seat that has split due to age and wear. There is some discoloration of the shade that covers the sun roof. The car has both front and rear NOS color-matched floor mats. The bumpers are original and have no rust or dents or dings. The doors have a few small dings on them where I suspect other car doors have probably been opened up against them. The wheel moldings and chrome trim rings have been replaced with original NOS parts. The rear bumper fillers have been replaced with new ones and painted to match the car. The trunk is as clean as it was when new. I have had new weather stripping installed in the trunk, s well as the doors. I have the weather stripping for the windows, ut have not yet installed it. I will include it with the car.
This car is dependable. It starts the first time, very time. It can be driven anywhere with no mechanical issues. It rides like a dream. I get plenty of "thumbs up"and stares and smiles when people see the car. And almost always somebody will start telling me of the one they had way back when. I have more pictures, f interested. Please feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Anything other than cash must clear the bank before the car changes hands. The reserve is low. I'm not greedy and I intend for the car to sell. I've owned 5 of theses cars in my life. All of them 77's. Some Salons, ome Supremes and Ihave a pretty good idea ofwhat they are worth. I know that even in showroom condition, hey are not a 10,000.00 car. Sad, ut true. Several have asked me to post a buy it now price, r what my asking price is. I'm posting a buy it now option for anyone who thinks they can't wait three days I have had a huge response to this posting. Thank you and I hope I'm answering everyone's questions to their satisfaction |
