Description of 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Is there some kind of support group for guys who love the Oldsmobile A-bodies too much? Because after you see this wonderful 1970 Cutlass Supreme, ou'll probably agree that Olds got it right with this one. Sporty, legant, nd quick, t's the perfect combination of features for a guy who doesn't need 500 cubic inches and flashy stripes to have a good time in an old car.Oldsmobile called the color "Gulfstream Blue" and about ten years ago it was repainted to match how it looked when it rolled out of the showroom. It works extremely well on the chiseled Oldsmobile's sheetmetal, ooking quite forward-thinking for 1970 but also fashionable in 2013. Cool, ight? You're also going to be pleased to see how straight it is underneath, o you don't need to make any excuses for this Cutlass, ecause it's every bit as nice as it appears in the photos. Sure, t's got a few signs of use and age, ut at this price, ou're getting one heck of a good-looking coupe. No stripes, ut it does carry a 442 hood that will take an expert eye to recognize, ut there's really nothing that gets in the way of the original look that is GM's best blend of performance and style of the era. A recent blue vinyl top looks more elegant than the original white and fits snugly with no worries because isn't hiding any of the usual bad stuff underneath. There's plenty of chrome acting as jewelry against the bright blue paint, lus the tightly-knit front grille and matching taillights that make it sparkle. It definitely looks like a luxury car inside, here light blue bench seats add to the upscale atmosphere. The upholstery is in excellent condition, hich is thanks to a combination of durable materials and excellent care since it was restored in 2005. Factory air is not unusual in these cars, ut it sure is nice when you're out cruising or on a long road trip, lthough this one could benefit from a quick recharge to put it back to 100%. Even the original AM/ radio is in the dash with a factory 8-track player hanging underneath, o get ready to answer questions from curious onlookers. It's quite comfortable inside and still completely stock so it'll be welcome at any show you attend without having to make disclaimers about modifications. The gauges with their clear black-and-white markings look great, he orange needles are still vivid, nd the burled walnut dash still shows well. Open the trunk and you'll find a recent mouse fur mat, orrect spatter paint, nd a compact spare that's a good idea even in a full-sized car like this.Guys who know Oldsmobiles know that Olds' 350 inch small block is as durable as a block of granite and makes great torque that its siblings over at Chevy and Pontiac can only envy. With a unique sound, t fires easily and offers a slightly lumpy idle that hints of performance to come. The engine was rebuilt in 2000 to stock specs and detailed with turquoise engine enamel, stock air cleaner, nd new ignition components, nd today looks like a well-maintained machine that has never needed major surgery. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic and a set of highway-friendly gears in the 10-bolt rear, o it just loafs along at highway speeds, aking it the ideal car for long road trips and the recent dual exhaust system sounds great without being annoying. A big part of the Cutlass's sporty demeanor comes from those color-matched SSII wheels, hich wear 215/75/14 whitewall radials.Handsome, un to drive, nd attractively priced, his Olds offers the smart hobbyist an easy way into the hobby.
