Description of 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass |
This "Baby 442" 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible has the factory 330 cubic inch 4 barrel "Jet Fire Rocket V8" factory rated at 310 Horsepower backed by the "Jetaway" Automatic 2 speed transmission. This car has the rare bucket seat and console option with Tachometer that works! I cannot verify the miles at 52,722, but I can tell you that the car was previously owned by a bachelor farmer in Iowa that passed on and left this car to his nephew. Original owner was a colonel in the Air Force and purchased the car new in California for his wife, the Coloneland his family were transferred to Hawaii. Upon their return to the states the car was sold to the Iowa farmer. This gentlemen owned the car for many years (Since 1971)and would use the car for parades and such. The driver door has hand written service stickers from June 8th 1993 having just 50,935 miles. The interior checks out very nicely for the age. the carpets, door panels and seats appear original. The top was replaced April 24, 1974 and still is in very nice shape (have receipt). The power top works very well also. Somewhere in the late 70's early 80's, the car was poorly painted and some rust repair was done behind the back wheels, see pics. There is some blistering of paint on each door at the stainless piece area. It looks like the trunk has a patch behind the drivers side wheel well. The stainless on the car, trim around wheel wells, windows etc is in very good condition, while the chrome grill and trunk panel pieces have pitting but shine nicely. The engine bay is extremely original and has not been detailed. I have some receipts, the owners manual, and the factory GM power top manual for this car as well as the factory jack and 4 full factory wheel covers. The car goes down the road very nicely. The current radials are old and would need to be replaced and the Crager SS rims are flaking. This car is a driver and I get tons of compliments every time I drive it. It will need brake work eventually, they are getting soft. Currently, I just take it to a weekly car show and the occasional swap meet, the car starts right up every time.I don't want to sell it but I have obligations and other cars that I've had for longer that need attention. Please direct any questions you have to me and I willdo my best to get you the information you need to make a great buying decision.Finding a GM intermediate under $20,000 that looks good, runs and drives is getting harder and harder. The Oldsmobile's are gaining in value nicely, so this would make a good investment and be a little more fun than your 401k! Don't bid unless you plan on owning and have the moneyto do it. I will request a $500.00 deposit within 24 hours of auctions end. |
