If you're looking for an iconic muscle-car era convertible, you can't so much better than this wonderfully straight and well-loved 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible. With a great red-on-red color combination, a strong-running V8 powerplant, and a lot of character, this is a very appealing alternative to the usual late-60s cruisers and muscle cars you usually see.Always treated as something special, this big Olds convertible has a comfortable, ready-to-go look. It's not a show piece, of course, but it shines up beautifully and doesn't look as if it's ever needed major surgery. It's a few years old now, but the super straight bodywork no doubt contributes to the overall high-quality look, and the sharp Oldsmobile fender arches and peaked fenders look particularly crisp in the vivid red finish. There are a few signs of age here and there, but that's easy to forgive on a car that looks like it's always waiting to go on a road trip. All the chrome and trim is largely original and its condition, more than anything else, tells you just how well-maintained this car really is. Only the bezels around the taillights and the rear bumper seem to be showing some age, but they're presentable overall. We really like this car!The Cutlass Supreme received bucket seats and the red upholstery is not only correct but in great shape. There's a lot of red, including the carpets, floor mats, and even the windshield surround, but it all works quite well and all seems to be about the same age. The standard factory instruments are up high where they belong, covering speed and fuel level, and for an original car the dials are in remarkably good condition. The seat covers fit snugly, the door panels are excellent, and the three-spoke steering wheel has a stylish look that matches Oldsmobile's forward-looking brand. Overhead there's a white power convertible top that fits well and the trunk is outfitted with proper mouse fur upholstery and a full-sized spare with a matching cover.Oldsmobile's wonderfully sporting 330 cubic inch V8 provides just the right kind of power for the Cutlass's dual nature. Smooth and docile in traffic, it never gets cranky, but when you crack the throttle it offers up a healthy serving of torque to make the car feel light and quick on its feet. The engine bay is nicely detailed with a correct bright red air cleaner on top of the Oldsmobile Gold engine, and there's lots of evidence of recent work everywhere you look. The 2-speed automatic transmission performs well in daily operation and a new exhaust system with glasspack-style mufflers gives it a unique Rocket soundtrack. Clean floors, a comfortable suspension, and options like power steering mean that this is a car that's built to cruise and does it exceedingly well. The 15-inch Rally II wheels are a modern take on an old favorite and with recent whitewall radials, it sits exactly right. Go ahead and count how many Chevelles and GTOs show up at the next cruise night. Now count the Oldsmobiles. If you like to stand out in a good way, this bright red Cutlass convertible is the answer.
