Description of 1958 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight |
1958 Oldsmobile Dynamic Eighty EightTwo Door Coupe One Family Owned All Original Paint Survivor With Only 16,917Documented OriginalMiles!!! Hello everyone, this is a listing for a 1958 Olds Dynamic Eighty Eight 2 door coupe all original survivor. Here is a little history about the 58 Olds Dynamic 88. For 1958, GM was promoting their fiftieth year of production, and introduced Anniversary models for each brand; Cadillac, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Chevrolet. The 1958 models shared a common appearance on the top models for each brand ; Cadillac Eldorado Seville, Oldsmobile 88, and the all-new Chevrolet Bel-Air Impala. The 1958 model, which was a only year only design,is best known in Oldsmobile as the year of the "ChromeMobile" thanks to tremendous splatterings of chrome trim on the body, particularly on the higher-priced Super 88 and Ninety-Eight models. The styling was advertised by Olds as the "Mobile Look." The Dynamic 88 debuted in 1958 and lasted through 1966. This model featured a more economical Rocket V8 than its more expensive linemates – a de-tuned 265 hp (198 kW) version of the 371 cubic-inch Rocket V8 with two-barrel carburation. This beautiful colored 58 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight 2 door coupe was sold new atSam Shoemaker Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Cadillacin Ashland, Pennsylvania on 12/20/57 to Harry Sharp from Center street Ashland, Pa. This dealership was the predecessor to Paul Chevrolet, buick and Oldsmobile in Ashland, Pa. The car came from the factory in a very pretty Blue called Marlin Blue color code 41 with a roof color called Banff Blue color code 40 which it still retains to this day and a nice 2 tone blue with white interior which it also still reatains to this day. This was a babied car from day 1, never in the snowand not driven when it was raining, and garagedall its entire life. This is a one family 2 ownercar. Mr.Sharp owned it 1st and then went to his Nephew after hepassed awayin 1984 which is on the same title yet. At that time in 1984 the car only had a little over 8,500 original miles. As per a original oil change sticker, on the drivers door, from SamShoemaker GM dealership the car only had 8,263 original miles and that date was 2/26/1963. So from 1963 till 1984 the car only went about 300 miles. Mr. Sharp just didnt use the car from 1963 hardly ever and was just garage kept. From 1984 on there are a couple reciepts for inspectionswhich shows the miles through the years. The car comes with the original owners manual which is in excellant condition and was always kept in the glove box. It shows the original owners name and address as well as the selling dealerships name and address. Also has the original Shoemaker metal dealer plate still on the trunk. It also has thefactory radio delete chrome plate that would of been on the car till the dealership put the radio and antenna in the car. Also the original spare tire and jack assembly which was NEVER used in in the trunk. I am a family member of the same family and I am selling the car now this is why I know the entire History of the car. The 2nd owner passed away last year so it is being sold. The car did sit garaged and not used since 2001 which was the last inspection but was started through the years. I'm glad the car was moved because the garage where is was started having roof issues and I think this is where some spots got into the paint, so it was time to be moved and go to a new home. I had the car pulled out and taken to my garage. Wechanged the oil, checked coolant, cleaned the points, put new battery in, checked for spark, put fresh gas in with lead additive and the car started up once the gas got to the carb and idled right away. The car starts right up every time. I have driven the car down the road and it shifts strong and firm. There are no funny or odd noises while driving the car. It runs and drives nice. The car will need a tune up, very minor brake work, new muffler(does not leak but getting ready to and should be changed) and finally tires as they are old, other than this ready to go. I can do this work for a price. We can discuss it. Everything works as it should. All the gauges read correctly, even the gas gauge. All the lights work inside and outside, even the cold light that stays on till the engine gets warm. The horns work and are very loud and even the tube radio works after it warms up. The car is 100% ALL original factoryGM sheet metal and still retains 95% factory GM enamel paint withone extremly smallprofessional Enamel blend in, on the extreme lower rear drivers quarter about 6 inches and was done back in the 60's,which you couldnt tell until it was wet sanded and buffed. This is a very strong survivor car that has very nice original factory paint all around especially for being 59 years old.I tried to show in the pictures there are some darkspots in some areas of the original paint. The paint is very nice, smooth and shines very well after a professional complete wet sand and buffing which took 2 full days but wanted to mention so everyone knows there are some marks,1small ding and 1 small scratch about 3 inches on lower passenger side door other than that this car is straight as an arrow with perfect lines and gaps. All original interior in very good condition with 1 small tear in the seat drivers side back portion from 2nd owner getting into car and his coat zipper catching the material. All original bumpers, there are some light pitting on only some areas of the chrome but still nice with no rust or dents and shines extremely nice. All the stainless trim is perfect with no dings or dents and look just like they did in 1958.Every window is factory original even the windshield. All glass is in very good condition with no chips or scratches. This is a VERY original unmolested car since day 1. The only items that were changed were radiator hoses, clamps and 4 tires. Everything else is still original on the car even the generator and master cylinder are original but redone years ago. As this being a Pennsylvania car it had undercoating put on it back then so it wasnt added. ThisOldsEighty Eight 2 door coupeis a very lower mile original example and is ready to be enjoyed for many years to come.
