Offered for auction here is our 1949 Oldsmobile Fastback! This was a pivotal year for Oldsmobile as they were launching their new and revolutionary OHV V8; however. not every buyer wanted the power and expense of the V8 engine. some opted for what you see here. the 6 cylinder variant. This example has survived the test of time remarkably well! We purchased this car from a close friend and were shocked by how clean and original this car is; the seats still had their original upholstery that was. while threadbare. still intact!The engine in this Oldsmobile is the original 230ci Inline 6 Cyinder. it is backed up by the 4-speed Hydromatic transmission and certainly is capable of daily driving! We've gone through the carburetor to ensure optimum fuel-delivery and performance and left the rest of it as-is. The body still wears 99% of it's factory Black paint! Only a few areas have been touched-up due to rock chips or minor scratches. This car still shines like it was brand new! Body is very solid with no floor rust or structural damage. but there is rust showing through just in front of both rear wheels. This area is very easy to repair and is hardly noticeable at a glance. We did replace some of the chrome/trim that was either damaged or worn with OEM original pieces. The old parts are still in the trunk of the car and are still useful as cores for restoration. Interior was worn. but original. when we got it and rather than simply redoing it and losing the originality of the car. we opted to install NOS seat covers that were custom-tailored for 1949 Oldsmobiles. These were made back in the 1950's and are rip & stain free! Seats are very comfortable and they give you a commanding view of the road! Overall. the car runs and drives like a brand-new 1949 Oldsmobile. the mileage shows 13. 64. 6 miles. but that may be 113. 64. We just don't know. However. this car does appear exceptionally original and untouched. Car is located in Lubbock. Texas; only 6 hours West of Dallas/Fort Worth.
