ExtremelyRare1961 Oldsmobile Cutlass, all-aluminum, high compression V8, hardtop coupe withdual carbs added to original engine.Only 9,944 made in this first year of the Cutlass and first year of the aluminum V8.Fast, lightweight early pre-muscle car, rocket age styling.Only a few 1961 Cutlass's are left on the planet in this good of Original Condition.Paint and body are Excellent.Beautifuland unique styling. No accidents, all original sheetmetal, not a rusty car, low miles, well cared for.

These previously unknown and forgotten "Y-body" cars are now becoming known and desired. Oldsmobile, Buick, and Pontiac produced Y-Bodies from 1961-1963. Very light at 2700lbs and fast, compact size, cutting edgeengineering, allaluminum V8,uni-body, four-link rear suspension. Pricesare rising fast. There is an Oldsmobile Y-body for sale now for $61,000, another 1962 sold at $42,100, a 1962 Buick Y-body just sold for $22,900, a 1963 Oldsmobile Y just sold at Mecum Indy for $50,000.The Oldsmobile Y-body is the best style.
The Cutlass's were special built: In mid 1961, Oldsmobile made a Hardtop coupe in the F-85 line with top level trim and a High Compression all aluminum high compression V8, 4 bbl engine.This motor is a work of art and an engineering masterpiece.GM sold the Patents, tooling, and manufacturing rights of the aluminum 215 to Rover of England in 1965 and the motor was used in many vehicles, race cars, boats, and even airplanes due to it light weight and reliability. It was also used in Land Rovers until about 2004.
At cars shows I have yet to see another one, and it gets LOTS of attention.
New BFG 215/60-15 tires on new 15" x 6" wheels.
Options:Rare Cordovan Mist original color exterior and original Tan color interior. Very rare original Vinyl top car (with new top), Tinted windshield, Hydra-Matic drive,windshieldwasher. Everything works great.
Cutlass model standard options included:Rockette 185hp high compression motor, floor carpets, foam padded front and rear seat cushions, safety padded instrument panel, chrome roof drip moldings, dual-speed wipers,wheel discs, white sidewall tires, back-up lamps,oil filter, deluxe steering wheel,deluxe radio.
OriginalPaperwork: Owners Manual, Service Manuals.Current California registration and fees paid until March 2018. Clear title in my name, in hand.
Engine:Pulled out of car and completelycleaned and resealed with new FelPro gaskets. Oil pan, front cover, intake, valve covers, cleaned and repainted. Main and rod bearings checked and look perfect. Looks to have been rebuilt about 5000 miles ago.On the car now is a Very Rare Offenhauser Dual Rochester carburetorintake.Theoriginal stock intake, original 4 bbl carb, and original air cleaner come with the car if desired, and is very easy to swap.Rebuilt water pump and distributor.New Camshaft and lifters. Cam is a Crower Level 2 and has a nice lope to it and lots of power.Fresh oil change, coolant changed, all new hoses, NOS AC spark plugs and new plug wires, new cap, rotor, coil.No leaks, No smoke. Does not burn any oil at all.Engine number: S069552G, block number: HH303830 all match car build so they are original. Transmission:Original 4 speed Hydra-Matic. Looks to be rebuilt. Shifts perfectly. Fluid changed, new filter, new pan gasket, band adjusted.Transmission number: OD561 633, white tag, match car build so is original.

Rear end:Original 3:36 ratio.Oil changed. No leaks.

Brakes andSuspension: All good. Stops perfectly. Newer pads. Fluid changed. Wheel bearings cleaned and repacked. Allsuspensionand steering is good and tight. Drivesstraight.All body and suspension bushings are good.

Body:Beautiful condition with original panels, base coat/ clear coat olderrepaint. White stripes are vinyl so they are removable if desired. Clean under body.No holes in floor or trunk. A couple of small areas of filler at bottom side of body looks due to dents, I can't see any rust. All original glass is good. Front and Rear bumpers are ok chrome, not perfect. All trim isexcellent. New door weatherstripping. Factory inspection ink stampingsstill visible in the engine compartment.

Interior: Two-tone Tan 974 code interior. Redone in original style, very good. Steering wheel is excellent condition. Dash is excellent-no cracks,original carpeted kick panels, headliner is good,upgraded AM/FM Radio with 4 speakers, clock, and aux. All gauges and controls work.New original loop carpet.All windows roll up and down great.

Trunk: New trunk mat, spare tire and jack, new weatherstripping.

This caris one of the rarest cars out there and is a joy to drive.

It is super-smooth, fast, and gets looks every where it goes. It's a very light weight car with lots of power. Runs excellent.

I really hate to sell it, but I have another project waiting.
