Description of 1970 Oldsmobile 442 w-30 442 tribute

1970 Oldsmobile CutlassSupreme/442 Tribute, Paint Code 26 Viking Blue Convertible being sold as-is with "No Reserve" I'm sure all the real Olds guys out there know how hard it is to find a Viking Blue Cutlass convertible. I purchased this 1970, Viking Blue Cutlass 442 convertible tribute from an elderly acquaintance of mine, whom is known in the area as an Oldsmobile Fanatic. He’s close to 80 and doesn’t drive the cars in his collection much anymore. I popped over at his house one afternoon to see what he had going on, when I spotted this beauty. He said he had decided to sell it. I was fortunate enough to come to an agreement with him, and pick this thing up!

According to the previous owner, the car has been completely restored about 5-7 years ago, and then basically stored in a large building with other classics, making very few cameo appearances on the street. Keep in mind while reading, that mostly every small part, wear and tear item on this car has been replaced or restored within the last 5 years or so, and the car has basically been a garage queen since.

The odometer on this car shows slightly over 30,000 miles but I have no way of telling if it is original mileage. This 350 Rocket Olds, fires right up, sounds strong, and runs extremely well. The motor has just been treated to all new plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor.

The car has a complete custom bent 2.5” dual exhaust system with factory correct trumpet exhaust tips that exit out of the correct cutout rear 442 bumper. The muffler shop added a nice pair of 40 series Flowmaster mufflerswhich have a distinct rumble and complement the beautiful body lines with that perfect muscle car sound.

This convertible has been professionallypainted base coat / clear coat - code 26 Viking Blue under prior ownership, but recently was color-sanded 3 times with paper ranging from 1000 – 2500, and then buffed with 3M products to bring out a brilliant silky-smooth finish. It just looks spectacular with this rare color combination Viking Blue, white striping, and a white convertible top. The metal-framed ram air hood and w-30 side stripes were recent additions under my ownership.

Most of the interior has been replaced with new. The carpet is brand new, the seat covers are new, as are the door panels. I was planning to finish this car off with the red fender wells, ram air cleaner, and some other things ( to complete the tribute appearance), but Instead have decided to sell this toy altogether to help fund a new outbuilding I’m trying to erect. I'm a huge 442 fan and I've owned a number of them over the years. I know how enjoyable and rewarding it is to cruise around on a nice day with the top down in one of these cars.

Aside from personal enjoyment, these cars are also very rare and getting harder to come by in nice driver condition such as this one, at an affordable price. These early 70's muscle cars have incredible investment potential, and have been referred to as rolling bank accounts. Remember, When the top goes down, the price goes up! Any dollars spent in the maintenance, upgrades, or further improvement to this car are only going to add value to it down the road. Currently this car, in my opinion, is in very nice driver quality condition.

The frame is in very nice condition, and the floor is as well. It does look like perhaps the entire floor was replaced years ago with a 1 piece floor, but it is hard to tell. The Entire undercarriage had been cleaned and painted with some sort of bed-liner, or a POR 15 type of gloss paint to protect it for years to come. You should also notice correct boxed control arms and rear sway bar are in place. The rockers all appear to be original and show zero signs of rust. The quarter panels are original to the car and if you look from inside the trunk you can see that on both sides, a portion of the wheel arch had been professionally replaced and repaired in the past. The bottoms of the original 1970 fenders look nearly perfect and I suspect that they have had the lower patch panel replaced in the past, only because they look so good, I can’t imagine factory fenders looking that good on the bottom.

The car does have some flaws, but "shows" nicely and could easily be taken to any car event with extreme pride. The car is not perfect however and has a few flaws that anyone should expect from a vehicle of this age. The paint, while it looks great and shows no visible rust, has some small blemishes here and there. The interior, looks great, but the AM radio doesn’t seem to work or get reception. The top looks great, but has a few scuffs and such, most likely from retracting into the framework when down. The air conditioning all appears to be present, but will need to be serviced by a professional to before it will blow icy cold. The new owner will likely be more than impressed with the overall presentation of this car, I’m just very critical and want to be super honest with anyone bidding. The car is a pleasure to drive and I would feel confident driving just about anywhere.

We still have the whole summer ahead of us, and there are a lot of car events coming up, so don't miss out on your chance to own this collectible, affordable, convertible Cutlass. The options include power steering, power front disc brakes, power convertible top, dual sport mirrors, four Super Stock I sport wheels, 442 sport steering wheel and air conditioning. I saw no signs of this car ever being involved in an accident. The suspension looks to be in very good condition and much of the rubber bushings, ball joints appear to have been replaced. This Olds really sits up awesome with the proud stance of a 442.

The original trunk floor was coated with black and aqua spatter spray to make it appear factory correct. The factory set of four 14" inch Super Stock I Chrome wheels with black inners, have been updated with a fresh coat of low gloss black and are wrapped in like-new Firestone Firehawk SS20 raised-white-letter tires.

Most of the chrome/stainless is very presentable on this car, in drivers quality condition, or has been replaced with new. What you see is exactly what you get! These complete older classics that have survived for over 40 years are becoming harder and harder to find. Especially in Viking Blue!!

This Oldsmobile is an investment that I believe will continue to rise as these cars have been consistently proven to escalate in value. These GM A-Body muscle cars are the finest handling cars I have ever driven. This car is for the guy or girl that always wanted one back in high school but could never afford one at that time. There is no finer muscle car on the planet in my eyes than the 1970-1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme or 442 convertible. Here is a prime opportunity to acquire your dream car. The deposit will need to be paid within 24 hours, and the balance is due within 72 hours. The title will be sent out the same day the funds are clear, or be kept in the glove compartment for transport, whichever way the winning bidder decides.
