Description of 1973 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Base model |
If you are looking at this ad-please read carefully. This 1973 Oldsmobile 98 is a real "barn find" and was in one for the last 16 years. You will need to do some work to this car if you want it perfect-but for a everyday cruiser it is fine. It has been off the road since January of 2003. I guessing 2002 was when it was really stored away. This car needs interior work done and too be cleaned some more. It is not bad, but it can use more work. The pictures reflect that. I would suggest a stern deep clean to really finish it off the right way. I have started that process. All power options work: Windows(a bit slow but work),seats, tilt wheel, locks, power trunk, rear defroster, stereo, power antenna-all in working order. The tires are old but can still be used momentarily. The 455 runs pretty well and the car is drivable. I have driven it. Everything shifts like it should. Gas tank was drained and 40 dollars of fresh fuel added. Gas gauge works. The dash clock works. The car has no rust to speak of, there may be a bit around the right side of the window but not sure because the trunk does not leak or get wet. The left rear fender has a small spot about the size of a #2 pencil. (round wise) This is a good solid car to restore or fix up, but it is NOT perfect. You are not bidding on a refreshed car that looks like it is in mint condition because it is not. This car will drive on a trailer easily and not give any problems. In fact, with new tires-you could basically just drive it as is if you wanted to. The AC works and was converted to R134a. There is extra freon in the trunk with an adapter to check your levels. This is still a nice Olds and could be very nice with some TLC. The exhaust is duals and sounds pretty decent. I have no way of telling how old is though. The dash pad is perfect with 0 cracks. I hope this description helps and I have tried to cover and show everything I can think of for this old cruiser. I do not want anyone out there to be disappointed or surprised. This is a survivor for sure, but can use some love to really make it pop. The broken rear filler piece is in the back seat. It was saved. Title is clear and ready to go. With some work, you could have a really nice cruiser. If you have more questions,I can try to answer them but this should pretty much let you know exactly what you are looking at. Thanks for looking and have a great day. :) Listing again with a lower price which is less than I paid for it. I had the car running today and it sounded good. No worries on the drivetrain at all. All in all-a very good car for either resto, daily driving and cruising or ? |
