Description of 1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

"1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Colonnade Hardtop Coupe"

Hello! Up For Sale and for your consideration is my “1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme”. The car has a very interesting story. On February 9th, 1973 Walter Sager Taylor took delivery of this car at Swanson Motors Inc. Oldsmobile – Cadillac – GMC Trucks on 2305 Riverside Dr. here in Danville, VA. 24540. Walter worked for Swanson as a Mechanic for 48 Years. He special ordered this car just the way he wanted it and to take advantage of the new body styles for 1973. Walter passed away on August 25th, 2016 and his family had his Estate Sale on March 25th, 2017, a friend of mine David Lane Goad went to the sale and purchased the car along with some other items, David is retired and formerly ran David’s Auto Sales here in Danville for over 40 years, David eventually brought the car by my job to show it to me and see if I would be interested in purchasing it, I fell in love with the car instantly but I already had a 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham in my garage and had no where to put this one inside, I eventually sold that car and contacted David, he still had the car so I went and looked at it again, drove it and we made a deal on June 9th, 2018 and the car was mine! The only thing that Walter changed or done to the car besides regular maintenance was he installed a mid 70’s Audiovox AM/FM 8-Track Radio that works and sounds great – (Original GM Delco AM Radio will come with car). When David purchased the car it still had G78-14 White Wall Bias-Ply Tires on it as well as the 14 Inch Factory Oldsmobile Rocket Wheel Covers. The Wheel Covers are like new and will come with the car but the Tires were way beyond saving as they were very dry rotted. So with all of that said the original owner had this car for over 44 years, David had it for 15 months and I have had it for 1 ½ years. I will tell you that I don’t want to get rid of this vehicle but I am in the process of putting my 2nd child thru collage as well as helping out my mom take care of my dad as he has dementia.

Things that I have done to the car since I have had it are: NEW – 15 Inch Wheel & Tire Package, 20 Chrome Lug Nuts, 4 Shocks, 2 Sway Bar End Links, Front Brake Pads, Front Left Brake Hose, 2 Rear Brake Drums, Brake Fluid with Complete Flush & Refill, 2 Metal / Rubber Wiper Refills, 442 Grill Badge – (Original Oldsmobile Script, Black Backing Plate and Hardware will come with car), Hot Rod Power Tour 2019 License Plate in front as the car made an appearance at the Martinsville Speedway during the tour, Front & Rear License Plate Hardware, Upgraded both Headlights to the clear style with the H4 Halogen Bulbs and 2 Ceramic Wiring Harnesses, Forever Sharp Matte Black and Tan Half Wrapped Steering Wheel and Matte Black Short Steering Wheel Adaptor, 1968-1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass NOS Walnut Shifter Ball – (Original one will come with car), 78 Group Side Post Battery, Re-Built the Quadrajet 4BBL. Carb., AC Delco - Air Filter PCV Valve, Fuel Filter, Oil Filter & Lucas 10W-30 Motor Oil with Zinc, Complete Tune-Up – AC Delco – Spark Plus, Dist. Cap, Rotor Button, Points, Condenser & Bosch Spark Plug Wires, Some Vac. Lines Replaced, Water Pump & Hardware, 50/50 Mix Green Antifreeze with Complete Flush & Refill, AC Delco 15 Pound Rad. Cap, All Hoses & Clamps, All 3 Belts, Under-Hood Pad & Round Caps, Washer Fluid Jug & Cap with Blue Water Washer Fluid, Blower Motor Resister & Relay, Etc.

The Chamois Gold Exterior Paint is all original except for the hood, it was taken off and taken to a local GM Dealership and re-painted with the original color Code 56 Chamois Gold Paint, sometime after the estate sale when things were getting moved around in there garage a can of open brake fluid was placed on the hood and it damaged the paint. The Vinyl Top is all original. The Exterior is all original except for the Wheel & Tire Package, Hot Rod Power Tour 2019 front License Plate, 442 Grill Badge and Headlights Upgrade. The Trunk Compartment is all original. The Engine Compartment is all original except for the maintenance that I listed above. Still has R-12 Freon that still blows cold after all these years! The Under-Carriage is all original except for the maintenance that I listed above. The Interior is all original except for the Audiovox AM/FM 8-Track Radio, Steering Wheel & Adaptor and Walnut Shifter Ball. The car runs, drives, rides, shifts and sounds like a dream, very smooth and stops on a dime! I have cleaned and detailed this entire car from top to bottom and front to back! The paint has been Clay Barred and Quick Detailed, Polished then Hand Waxed, the paint is 46 years old so it is not perfect but it has no dents nor dings in it, it is thin in a few spots but shines very well and is very slick and smooth. This car is an Un-restored / Survivor that has been Fully Refreshed. You will be hard lucked to find another one like it. You can Show this car, take to Cruise-Ins or Drive Daily.

The only thing that this car needs done to it that I have not gotten around to yet is a Transmission Filter, Gasket & Fluid Change, not because it shifts funny or the fluid is dark but only because the pan and gasket leaks only when the car sits in my garage like all TH350’s do. I will supply with the car a Transmission Filter & Gasket Service Kit, 5 Quart’s of Transmission Fluid and a New Transmission Pan.

Things that come with the car along with what has already been mentioned: All of the Items that would come in the Glove Box new are there. All of the Paperwork & Documents that Walter & Swanson filled out are there. Copy of the front and back of the Original Virginia Title that was issued to Walter on February 13th, 1973. 2 Factory Swanson Danville Oldsmobile – Cadillac Die-Cast License Plate Frames. 3 - Keys.

* I also have collected a lot of 1973 Oldsmobile Items, Advertising, Awards, Brochures, Data Books, Promos, Selling Albums, Service Guilds and Etc., I will let all of these items go with the car as a total package deal collection if I can get a certain $ amount for the car.
