Description of 1969 Oldsmobile 442

1969 Oldsmobile 442 . Read in full. Very important that you know what your bidding on. The car is being sold as is, by this description and photos. If you need to ask how to restore this, it's probably not for you. Yes, this is a rare, factory black w/parchment int. 1969 442, M21 4 speed, 3.91 posi rear w/matching numbers block, correct manifolds W/Z, and build sheet. A Johnny go fast - red light racer, as it DOES NOT have power steering, power brakes or A/C. It does have Rally Pack, sport wheel, and 14" SS1 wheels, bucket/console and spare (no jack) and trunk light. It has "J" heads, and does not have the "C" heads as it should. It has a newer Holley Street Avenger that works well, but I have the carb core supposedly for the car, and "is included with sale" 7028251 RJ (pic). Has HEI distributor, (probably why the tach isn't working properly) and a 3 core rad, in a very solid 4 core support. I know very little about this car's history, but I am trying disclose all I can. Here is the story I was told. Seller #1 bought this repainted 80,000+ mile car about 15 years ago, barely drove it, ended up leaving it for approx 10+ years in a barn, still insured and tagged annually until 2015. Now in 2020, he asked his friend to make it road worthy, clean it up and sell it for him. I met seller #2 before he did all that for seller #1. I wanted it for me, couldn't test drive it (zero brakes), and took my chances. Installed battery, new master cyl & 4 new wheel cyl's, new l/r axle line, spliced new r/s brake line connected to new rubber center T hose above differential (zip tied to body). Rear brakes work, fronts won't bleed out, may need rubber hoses yet. The trunk lid was replaced with a real solid used OEM Cutlass lid (evidence of emblem holes filled). Major attention took place and the car has now starts right up, shifts well with whiny M21 and runs strong. Well, two tires were out of round, so I put my old red lines on, only to find out that two of them are now bad, ugh! So I took some pics w/red lines, but they are coming off and not included, just the originals. Yes, it's a bad ass looking car going down the street, turns heads, sounds and looks great. But up close, there there is black tape over some holes to give it a better 50 ft. look, and also to stop the water from coming in the trunk, when washing (see pic, now covered). This was a finished car 20 years ago, but it needs a lot of love to be great again! Interior is pretty decent, but could be cleaner, headliner intact w/shoulder harnesses and seat belts complete, rear package tray and sail panels stained. Dash is nice, and console is too but not perfect. Good metal parts seem to be, frame, floors, dash/cowl, core support, trunk pan, trunk lid, speaker deck, lower rear quarters and upper fenders. Rusty body parts are, around front & rear glass, rockers panels, sail panels (by vinyl mldgs), lower fenders, doors and front hood edge. All repairable by a professional, or you can finish the brakes, check out the rest and just drive it. Gas gauge works, others intermittent. Most all of the bright work (chrome and stainless) is in real nice shape, grilles look good, bumpers etc. Tiny chip in glass by lower defrost vent. Most the interior/exterior lights work, and no, I did not paint the console white, I got it that way. Top of r/fender and hood looks like a kids multi-colored inner tube was left there and melted. I tried to explain really well and included the max pics, I'm sure you'll find more things as I did, but if you want this car and are willing to do the work, I think you will be happy with this find. I still want it, but know at this time, I can't do the whole start to finish on this one, partially because I have two others needing my attention. Just can't keep 'em all.
