Description of 1958 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight |
Project Car that is 99%complete. Catches eyes every time its out of storage. Deluxe chrome trimon doors and windows. 371 V8. Been in storage for several years after Ibought the car from Texas. Sill has Texas Title. Car is solidproject car, I drove it around the neighborhood at slow speed when I picked itup in Texas before loading it. Then I put in in storage for "someday". Just admitting I do NOT have time to finish it. Already sold Two and have another 1958 Olds 88 in my garage in process. The car is VERYcomplete and rolls easily for loading. Was Running from gas can to fuelpump 2 years ago and moved under its own power, but has NO brakes. All ofthe glass is also available in reproduction modern tinted safety glass. Ican help in loading car for the buyer. My shop is easy access for any carhauler or transport truck. Could possibly deliver within a 200 mileradius of St. Louis, MO for a reasonable fee. Keep in mind MY Chevy 454car hauler gets 9 mpg. Thinning out projects from the insidestorage facility. This 88 needs to go to someone with the time to finishit correctly. Ask questions quickly so I can get answers back to you. Itsa nice solid project car. If you are expecting to fire it up and drivehome, this is NOT the car for you. Would make a great Father/Sonproject over the winter. Car does need tobe paid for before leaving. Can store for a few weeks after check clearsso you can arrange shipping. If you have less than 10 transaction orbelow at 95% rating contact me before bidding. The Seats are serviceable as a driver, but door panels need some help. Selling as a SOLID BODY restoration vehicle. Even the original screw holes for door chrome are there. Personally drove to Texas to get this car. I just decided to restore a different one that was already missing the motor and tranny. The one I am selling deserves to be restored complete and original. I have a goodrating on eBay and plan to keep it that way. Clean Texas Title in hand. Was Asked if a455 Oldsmobile engine will fit into the 1958 olds engine area? YES a 455 Oldswill fit nicely. I pulled a 425 from a 69 Toronado which is the exact sameblock. Put the 425 in my other 1958 Olds 4 door. The 425 was just thegeneration before 455. You cannot tell them apart externally. I welded custommotor mounts to the frame and used stock Olds exhaust manifold for a W Olds442. Those are easy to find.. The motor sits about 3/4 of an inch off center topassenger side to clear the steering box, but it fits just beautiful. A Turbo400 tranny fits to the factory cross member with a slightly modifiedtransmission bracket. Do NOT need to modify the trans cross member. Go online andsearch this. There is a guy out there i looked at 5-6 years ago that postedstep-by-step overview on how he put a 455 in his 1958 Olds. It's actuallyNOT that difficult. |
