Description of 1949 Oldsmobile 98 Futuramic |
Crest Blue exterior and gray/tan cloth interior. First-year Oldsmobile put the "Rocket" (303ci) engine in their cars; a previous owner rebuilt it. Along with the four-speed automatic Hydra-Matic transmission. New Radial Dimond Back tires and battery. It is a 6V and never I had an issues so I see no reason to convert it to a 12V. This is a survivor car; most of it is still original. The front seat was reupholstered, and the back seat and doors are still original and show 70+ years of wear and tear. I pulled it out of storage and fired it right up with no issues. Maybe because I don't drive it enough, it has some minor leaks. None of them are bad enough to fix. Even if I had them fixed, it still might leak. ???? The engine leaks a little oil, less than a 1/4 quart per oil change. The four-speed automatic trans runs smoothly and has a very slight leak. The differential has a slight leak, but not enough to fix, in my opinion. The paint has some chips here and there but overall in great shape. All the chrome is in great shape with minor scratches. We are the only Olds sounded by Chevy and Ford at the cruise night and car shows. It's nice to stand out and not follow the herd. Reach out for questions, more photos, and a couple of videos. I can show you the car in person too. |
