This is one of the 34,000 442s built in 1968 only 5,142 were convertibles.
Like all 68s, this is a 400 motor car with optional turbo 400 transmission. The car appears to have an Oldsmobile 12-bolt 3.08 open differential. It is equipped with heavy duty cooling including a 4-core radiator with correct core support and radiator top plate. The Olds has white bucket seat interior with center console. Optional 3-spoke wood wheel.

This was purchased at the Russ Dunnmeyer car dealership in Tacoma, WA. Included with the car is the original window sticker and sales receipt paperwork. It's been off the road 30 years and was last registered in 1992.

This is a very solid car with very little rust in body panels. The frame has no rust issues. The floorboards front and rear are very solid and need no attention. The rocker panels are very solid without rust issues. The front windshield channel is also solid without need for repair. There is minimal rust on the passenger side of the trunk floor.

It appears the car might have been scuffed and repainted at some point. Overall, the paint is in good condition. It does not appear the car was apart during the process. The 442 appears to have all the original panels. The doors have the correct striker plates only found on convertibles. The 442 has the correct original doors.
The correct rear boxed lower control arms and sway bar are intact. The car is wearing correct 1968 Ralley wheels with bolt-on center caps with new Cooper Cobra Radials.
The car has the original “Powertrain”.It’s the original 400 “G” code block and correct big valve “C” casting cylinder heads. It also has the correct cast iron intake manifold. It does not appear this motor has ever been disassembled.

The transmission tag is present with “68-OG” stamped on the tag. It is the correct short shaft turbo 400transmission.

The power top works incredibly well and operates smoothly without any binding. It is easy to latch in the down position and comes to rest in the proper location in the up position. All the stainless trim shines nicely and is very good shape.

The car has the original buckets and console, door panels, carpet and handles. The original car radio is still in place and actually turns on.The heat fan turns on and operates correctly.

The car starts with ease.Simply set the choke and the car starts right up. As the car warms up, the motor begins to idle down as it was designed to do or you can tap the throttle and it will idle down. The 442 shifts nicely through all gears and accelerates smoothly. The car drives like a real 442 should. There’s very little body sway and feels solid on the road.

There are few of these cars left on the road. This is a virtually untouched original 442 that deserves someone who appreciates these cars.
