Description of 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass |
Own a piece of 1980s American automobile history! This Cutlass Supreme began its life in Texas in 1985 a few months after Back to the Future hit theaters. It was titled in Virginia in 2006 with 133,000 miles. The odometer is not working but it probably has around 160,000 miles now. The car was a daily driver for my father until 2020 when he was unable to get it to pass Virginia inspection because of a broken left front window elevator. That door also needs new weather stripping and probably hinges. As seen in the photos, the car was involved in a minor accident on the left side that shifted the alignment of the left front door and made it difficult to open and close. The engine ran as if it needed a tune up; the transmission shifted okay. The air conditioner does not work. There is an exhaust leak. The car has some oil leaks consistent with the mileage and age. The paint on the car is very faded but the body remains in remarkably good condition as far as being free of rust. The undercarriage appears to have superficial rust but is solid. A rust spot is visible within the trunk but the metal seems intact. Overall the car would be ideal to restore. No body filler needed for this car. Some of the chrome trim is in very good condition while plastic near the front and rear bumpers has decayed. The front bumper is slightly bent from the minor accident. The interior is in average condition. The seats are faded but not torn. The dash has a crack in the center. The carpet looks dirty. The battery and tires on the car would need to be replaced. The car should be drivable but you would need to bring a new battery and it would be good to change the fuel too. |
