Description of 1971 Opel Other |
Greetings! Up for bids is my 1971 Opel GT. This is a 1.9L engine model. Here's the story for the car: First off, y last name is Opel. That said, always dreamed of owning an Opel GT. I purchased this car locally (Athens, A) just shy of my 40th birthday (a little over 2 years ago, ct '14). Since the day it rolled off the trailer, haven't moved it an inch. We are now in the process of readying our house to sell and I can't take it with me (boo hoo!). I've purchased a few parts for it off of ebay that will be included, nd that's the extent of what has been done to the car in the time I've owned it. Here's the history of the car prior to me purchasing it in Oct 14: Supposedly it was a one owner car. The original owner said it was a running vehicle when he decided to restore it as a father/son project for his then teenage son. The car was repainted it's original GM Blue and that's as far as they got prior to the son leaving for college. The engine is supposedly good. You can tell that the engine, ranny and cooling systems were removed when it was sprayed with paint. All components were mounted back in the vehicle but never hooked back up to the electrical or fuel system. Most everything is there as far as I can tell. The master cylinder is sitting in the front seat, o there are no brakes beyond the emergency brakes. I believe it is missing the parking light housings but the amber Hella lenses and bezels are present. The interior carpet and headliner are gone. The seats have tears and the back seat/bench is made from plywood. The paint on the car is in decent shape. There are two paint bubbles that are now surface rust marks (see pics) and one paint droop under the passenger 1/4 window. Depends on how far you want to go with it. I was going to keep the paint and touch up the spots. Overall it looks good from 20 feet. It will need new window rubber everywhere (1/4 window rubber missing, indshield rubbers are brittle and cracking) Rust: This is the main reason I purchased this car. Very, ery solid. The rockers are sharp and straight. I see no rust through anywhere on the car. The driver side floorpan has a fiberglass patch on it, ut I'm not sure why. I see no rust through from the underside. Sold AS-IS. Title was lost by previous owner. Sold with a Bill of Sale. Overall a very solid start to someone's project. Feel free to ask questions. Reserve is set below what I purchased the car for. The car is located in Athens, A and must be picked up there. I can assist loading it but all other responsibilities are on the buyer. $500 deposit due within 2 days of the auction's end. Remaining balance due within 7 days of auction's end. Please ask any relevant questions prior to bidding. |
