1936 Hudson Custom Six Brougham Hard to find model Solid survivor car Very original example Up for bids is this seldom seen 1936 Hudson Custom Six Brougham. The Custom Six series rode on a 120" wheelbase and were a step up from the Terraplane series. Like a relic from the past, his car shows lots of patina but is still on the road going strong. The car is extremely solid front to back and top to bottom, standout survivor that's 79 years young. The car wears an ancient repaint in its original color of black, t's begun to show its age and could even be mistaken for original paint. The body itself is very straight, ever hit or bumped, haven't detected any areas of filler anywhere on the car. All of the wheels still wear their original paint, ires are reproduction Firestone Deluxe Champions from Coker, hey're in great shape with lots of tread. Nice grill assembly aside from some slight pitting to the brightwork. The hood emblem itself is completely undamaged, till looking great. The bumpers are straight but the chrome reflects their age. The windshield is in good shape, nexplicably better than the rest of the glass which shows fogging and delamination in spots. The fragile tail light lenses are in terrific condition. The red lens at the bottom was designed to alert oncoming motorists if you are on the side of the road with the trunk up. The trunk is untouched, till with its luggage straps. The only area on the car that's rough is the trunk channel. I've poked around here with a screwdriver and there's no rot or rust-through here, ust ugliness. The sheet metal on these old Hudsons is impressively thick, here's lots of material here to work with if one wanted to clean up this area. With the exception of the front floor mat and auxilliary gauge cluster, his interior is completely original. Dash finish and garnish moldings are in terrific condition, s is the steering wheel. This car was optioned with the "Electric Hand" pre-selector transmission, imilar to those used in Cords. Due to their complex electro-vacuum mechanical operation, udsons so equipped were supplied with a standard floor shift lever that was included with the car's tool kit. The reasoning was that if the Electric Hand failed the driver could simply mount the floor shifter and be on his way. As you can imagine, t indeed failed years ago and the floor shift became a permanent solution. Still, n interesting option that's a neat conversation piece. And if you can manage to make it operational, ven better! All gauges and controls are functioning, he heater works but the doors are stiff to move. Glovebox contains an informational booklet for salesmen that describes all aspects of the 1936 models. Headliner is original and shows some flaws. The door panels are all original and show some aging. Door hardware all looks great. One interesting feature on these cars are the forward wing windows. Turn the knob one way and they pivot open, urn it the other way and they roll down into the door. Back seat area still has its original carpet. All of the car's windlacing and window sweeps are original. The 212ci L-Head Six runs strongly with no smoke. This car has the optional "Power-Dome" aluminum cylinder head, hich boosted HP from 93 to 100. A 6V alternator has been installed although the original generator is included and from what I've been told is ready to bolt on. The car runs down the road with adequate power, sound suspension and good braking response. The undercarriage is amazingly solid, rom the frame to the floor pans to the running boards - you'll find no rust issues anywhere. Just a neat old Hudson that's wearing a well earned patina.
