This is probably the finest piece of drag racing history that has been offered for sale in a long time. It was built by Walt Arfons, alf of the original great early racing team of Art and Walt Arfons. This was a recent "barn find." This was raced as the Green Monster until about 1959, nd later raced by Walt's son-in-law Fred Sibley (a member of the Drag Racing Hall of Fame) as White Lightning. This car put an end to the practice of using aircraft engines in dragsters. It was just too fast. It ran 212 mph with an et of 7.03 sec. in 1959. It also won the World Series of Drags 1959.It is powered by a V12 Ranger aircraft engine with a 3-1 rpm multiplier on the rear of the engine. It was last raced in 1968. This rare piece of racing history was found in a barn in the backyard of racing legend Fred Sibley in Indiana. This dragster would be the highlight of any collection of early racing vehicles. There is an early video of this dragster racing on YouTube, earch under Fred Sibley White Lightning dragster at Osceola. The owner of the vehicle is selling it without reserve as he feels that this is the proper way to well a vehicle at auction. I am selling this for a friend of mine. Please call me if you have any questions at 513-659-3570 or email.
