Description of 1964 Other Makes Model 770

1964 Amiphicar Model 770. Beach White / Red, 175cc I4 engine, our-speed manual transmission, win propellers. It's a car -- no it's a boat! This is a 1964 Amphicar Model 770, resented in Beach White over a red and black interior. Despite its claim of being the most successful amphibious road-going car sold in the U.S., he Amphicar is incredibly rare, ith less than 3,900 models ever produced. This is a very well-kept example that has been fastidiously cared for and is said to still be water-worthy.The model name "770" was chosen as an Amphicar could hit 7 mph on the water and 70 mph on dry land. As configured by the factory, odel 770 Amphicars are powered by a 1175cc inline-four that was transplanted from a Triumph Herald, nd it is backed by a four-speed manual transmission. In the water, simple lever switches the Amphicar from rear-wheel drive to twin rear propellers, ith the front wheels doing the steering in the water as well as on land.Model 770s were available in only four colors from the factory: Beach White, agoon Blue, jord Green and Classic Regatta Red. This example is finished in Beach White, hich was the second most popular factory color. The car features a white manual soft top and red vinyl bench seats with white piping. Further features include bow & stern lamps, bilge pump, anual roll-up windows and 13" polished wheels with Goodyear white line tires. On file with this Amphicar is the original owner's manual, echnical info, ife vests and even an oar. With less than 3,900 ever built, he Amphicar has developed a rabid cult following. This is an incredibly well-kept and well-presented example that won't stick around for too long -- don't miss out.
