Description of 1965 Other Makes Factory 5 Shelby Cobra SHELBY COBRA ROADSTER FACTORY 5 |
Factory Five MKIII RoadsterFresh Paint and Restoration by Grubbs Motorsports480 Horsepower 347 Levy Engine This Classic American Muscle Car is being sold and will make someone the envy of all their neighbors, his hard hitting street car is a dependable driver that has great street manners but will get down with it when you push the gas pedal. Grubbs Motorsports just completed a street driver paint job on this car along with many other upgrades. This car was originally built in 2005 and it is a Factory Five Racing MKIII Roadster, imilar to a Shelby Cobra. The car runs and drives great, tarts up easily and has been professionally tuned by Grubbs Motorsports. The car recently underwent a mini restoration and upgrades that include the following: New paint job (driver/show quality), ew Wheels and Tires, ustom tune up including oil change with Joe Gibbs Hot Rod Oil, ew Ceramic coating on side exhaust, ew windshield assembly, ew seats, ew dash assembly, omplete new American Auto Wire Highway 15 Harness, ew bumpers, ew Strange master cylinder, ew rotors and pads, ew rear tubular control arms, ew Stainless braided fuel line with filter, nd much more. I will describe the car as honestly as possible but as with any purchase we recommend that you come see it in person or have it inspected. I make myself available to talk about the car and accept offers by phone at 469-387-9796, will ship anywhere in the world but all funds must clear first, o games, e've seen and heard them all. I did not fully restore this car so some of what I will list is info from the previous owner, ut from what I can tell driving and working on the car it looks like he was honest about what parts are on the car. Body:Freshly painted in basecoat/clearcoat, olorsanded and buffed to a slick show type finish. Now with any paint job there are some minor flaws especially in fiberglass cars so in my professional opinion the paint and body work is a 8.5 out of 10, ost of that due to the car being fiberglass, he gaps are typical for Factory Five, hey are not show tight or perfect but the car fits together nicely. The finish on the car is very slick and will show well, o runs, hips, cratches or anything. The stripe is sprayed in a satin black finish, long with the roll bar and bumpers, he satin black theme carries throughout the car. The side exhaust is satin black Ceramic coated so it will last forever. All exterior lights work as they should and are in good shape. The hood is a lift off style, ou can add hinges if you like, he brackets are there from FFR. The windshield assembly, ind wings, nd visors are all new from Factory Five, he louvers on the side are new as well as the custom Grubbs Motorsports emblems, hey are taped on and can be replaced if you choose to do so. Interior:The dash is new and sprayed in the same satin black as the stripe on the car, t holds Auto Meter Ultra Lite Gauges and they all work correctly. The switch on the dash is for the turn signals and it works correctly. The carpet appears to be original to the car, t is not perfect but looks good, ome wear where your feet go. The pedals are replica AC Cobra style and look good, he shifter is the correct type for a Cobra as well. The seats are brand new vinyl black from Factory Five, eat belts are not new but look good and work correctly. The big thing that has been added is a new American Auto Wire Highway 15 fuse panel and all new wiring. No donor parts here, his is a custom 40 hour wiring job that has the correct relays and labeled wires, e typically charge 4,500 for this type of wiring job in a customers car, o butt connectors or trailer connectors, ll heat shrinked connections and it is routed nicely and hidden where possible. Engine:This is a Levy racing Stage 3 347 stroker engine, don't have every spec about it but from what I can find it features a Cast Steel 3.400" Stroke Crank, teel I beam 5.400" long rods with ARP bolts, orged flat top pistons with 2 valve reliefs, 0:1 compression that runs perfect on 92 or 93 octane pump gas, ll balanced rotating assembly. The heads are Aluminum RHS 215CC intake runners with 2.08" intake 1.60" exhaust valves stainless steel. Dual valve springs for the hydraulic roller, ull roller rockers and a nasty sounding Comp Cam that has duration at .050 in the low 230's with .598" lift, t hits hard and sounds like a race car on the street. This engine has a Moroso road race 7 quart oil pan on it, nd holds good oil pressure. This is not some donor engine but rather a 10,000 dollar unit. it has a billet MSD distributor, laster coil, SD digital 6AL box with rev limiter and racing plug wires. The intake is an Edelbrock Victor Jr single plane and on top of it sits a 700 dollar Quick fuel 750 CFM race carburetor that we custom tuned for the engine. It has no choke and responds great as you'll see in the video that I will add, n top of the carb is a flow through lifetime air cleaner assembly. The alternator is a 1 wire 100 Amp unit, igh volume water pump and performance ratio serpentine aluminum pulleys. I would like to say that this car is very fast, 'd estimate the power to be from 460-480 horsepower at the flywheel, t flies, his is not a car for a rookie driver or a kid. I would say the car would run in the low 11's in the quarter mile and will run well past 150 MPH if you dare to hold it down that long. It sounds mean, t is loud and sounds like a race car, t is driveable on the street but everyone will hear you coming home. Drivetrain:The 347 engine is backed with a high performance clutch, ut clutch effort is great, ot too firm but it feels right. The transmission is a World Class T5, do not know the miles or history on it, ut it shifts correctly, oes not grind or jump out of gear, t works correctly. The rearend is a 5 lug 8.8 that probably started life in a 95 Mustang. It has 3.55 gears, hey don't make any noise and the rearend works as it should. We just added new tubular rear control arms with polyurethane bushings. Brakes have a new Strange master cylinder, ew rotors from a 95 GT Mustang, ew pads were also just added the car stops perfectly as it should. Steering is a Flaming River manual rack and pinion and it requires little effort to steer it, he car just had a new alignment. The wheels are staggered Fr500 Satin Black 17x10.5 and 17x9 with black lug nuts. The tires are Nitto 555 series with 315/35/17 in the rear and 275/40/17 in the front, hey fit well and don't rub. Both wheels and tires have less than 40 miles on them. The car features bilstein front coilover shocks that are ride height adjustable and FFR racing rear coilovers that are also ride height adjustable, he car rides nicely, irm but smooth. The chassis is powdercoated satin black, t has a few chips here and there but shines nicely. The underside of the car is clean, t is not brand new so don't expect that, ut it is also not all beat up or abused. Overall:I'd rate this car in it's class of aftermarket Cobras to be a 9 out of 10, on't expect a perfect brand new car because it isn't. It is however a very nice car that is built correctly and has had all the bugs worked out. It features a very solid drivetrain that is easily maintainable and easy to work on if needed. This car turns heads, t has "The Look", eople take pictures of it and throw the thumbs up at it everywhere you go. I have the original MSO from FFR, t was built in 2005 and shows to have 1400 miles on it. Please feel free to ask any questions or make any offers by email or by phone. I will add a video and a photobucket with more than the 24 pics that are on here on Monday. You could not buy the kit and parts to build this car for our asking price, ou would spend over 70,000 to duplicate this car if you had it built. |
