Description of 1940 Other Makes P9

I found this old guy in Georgia about four years ago and have spent the last few years bringing it back to life. but now I have lost interest and it is time to move on – the car is stored and worked on in a heated and cooled garage. The body has been left pretty much as found except for the front lower valence which I molded with fiber glass. Obviously. a lot of Bondo and fiberglass were used back in the 70’s to create the design but the interior of the body skins look solid. there is an area of weld repair in the center front frame but everything looks straight and solid. Front floors have been repaired with fiber glass (see picture) and there are a few spots of rust through in none structural areas but overall it is a very solid car. The body is in primer and will need detail and block sanding before paint; it is a decent 10 footer. Interior: Both front and seats look like they came out of a late 60’s or 70’s luxury car and are in pretty good shape but were painted/dyed grey and in some areas the finish has worn through to the original color (tan) both front passenger and driver’s seat are power. The floor is covered with thick rubber matting. looks good and makes for easy maintenance. The dash was a mess. so the face was removed and replaced with sheet aluminum then covered with foam backed vinyl; new Omega gages were installed. No door panels in place but I have matching interior vinyl covered panels that need trim to be install. Headliner is fair. fits a little loose in front. Electric door locks and windows all work but the windows sometimes need help going up. Radio is a new JVC with CD. two speakers are in the rear seat side panels. /p> Driveline: The engine appears to be an early Mopar 360. transmission is a 727 probably from the same car. no numbers on the diff but by photo matching it appears to be an early Mopar (again. probably from the same car). After changing all fluids and flushing with Seafoam. the engine started right up. since then I have added an Edelbrock hi-rise manifold. Edelbrock 600 carb. electronic ignition. aluminum radiator. two electric fans (one triggered at 180F. the other controlled by a switch on the dash). electric fuel pump. new water pump. vacuum assist brakes and Corvette master cylinder with proportional box (disks brakes in front). The lifters clack a little until warmed up. but no other weird noises and no smoke. I have driven the car over 75 mph and it feels quite stable. however. I have not driven it on trips over 15 miles and I would not suggest driving it home any greater distance; it should be trailered. The original gas tank was removed and a 10 gallon fuel cell installed in the trunk. along with two batteries. All gauges and other electrics work but I have had trouble setting up the fuel gage and the turn signals are only wired to the rear. Dual exhaust (old glass packs) and the lake pipes are not hooked up. The front end has been worked. bearings and kingpins replaced; it needs alignment. although I don’t notice it while driving. Front tires are new. rears were on the car when I bought it but have plenty of tread. Motor mount rubber has split. I have the replacement mounts and they go with car along with all spares and misc. parts I have removed or replaced. I have over $12K invested in this car and I’m sure I have forgot many things that I have done to it and will respond immediately to any questions. I have a clear Tennessee title in my name. This is a cool old piece of history and draws a lot of attention where ever it goes. but it is time to move on. The car can be inspected anytime during the auction run; located in Loudon. Tennessee.
