Description of 1947 Other Makes Cab Pickup |
NO RESERVE! Orphan brands often have fascinating stories to tell, nd in the 1940s, udson was working overtime to diversify their product lineup and expand market share. By basing most of their vehicles on a smiliar chassis, conomies of scale could be realized but there was another side-effect: the creation of what is arguably the most attractive pickup of the 1940s. This 1947 Hudson Cab pickup truck is a project, ut it's a worthy one. Have a look around and you'll see restored examples and they're just about the prettiest machines you're likely to see hauling bales of hay or stacks of plywood. The mechanicals are rugged and parts are plentiful enough that nothing's unobtainium. It's definitely worth saving. This truck was purchased by a friend who bought it sight-unseen. When he arrived to pick it up, e found that it had been badly misrepresented. However, eing the first-rate kind of guy he is, e kept his word and bought it anyway. In the two years since, e just hasn't been able to find the time to restore it and has decided that he never will. The way it sits in the photos is the way he got it. We have not cataloged the parts but it appears to be mostly complete, lthough we have no way of knowing if every screw and clip is really there. The big stuff is, ncluding the fenders and grille. It does run and drive well enough to get onto a trailer and aside from the small areas with perforation in the doors and hood, t's solid. We make no representations that you can get in and drive it, ut as you can see, he engine was running when theses photos were taken two weeks ago. Heck, he fender skirts alone are probably worth a significant fraction of the opening bid. You now know as much about this truck as we do, o please don't E-mail and ask if the spadomatic spuctor spring is there, ecause we don't know. What you see in the photos is what you get. I personally love these trucks and with their values climbing, t has become a worthwhile project to undertake, specially if you're a Hudson fan. |
